As follicular unit surgery was emering in the early 1990's, Dr. Parsley was one of the first to convert to using microscopes to prepare follicular unit grafts. His introduction to this state of the art procedure began in early 1990's with a trip to the Moser Clinic in Germany. He later advanced his follicular unit grafting with a trip to Dr. Bob Limmer's office in early 1996. Dr. Bob Limmer is often refered to as the "God Father of Follicular Unit Surgery". He and his staff have continued to be at the cutting edge of follicular unit grafting.

Dr. Parsley carefully creates all the incisions using very tiny custom cut blades. By carefully controling the angle and direction of these incisions he creates a very natural pattern and direction for the new hair, even in the temple and sides. The special instruments he uses create tiny and minimally invasive incisions that enable very small grafts to be placed close together. This enables his patients to achieve cosmetic density.

Dr. Parsley is very hands on and participates in the entire surgery, placing most of the grafts himself. He also only performs one procedure a day in order to give his patient his full attention. He is very committed to doing excellent hair transplantation work.

He is extremely well respected by his peers and is very active in with the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. He is also board certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. William M. Parsley was awarded the 2003 Golden Follicle Award at the annual meeting of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery in New York. The ISHRS Golden Follicle Award is one of the highest honors a hair transplant surgeon can receive from his fellow hair restoration surgeons.  This award is given annually and recognizes significant clinical contributions in the field of hair restoration surgery.

Dr. Parsley has actively been involved in hair transplantation research and teaching. From 1999-2001 he edited the Cyberspace Chat for the Hair Transplant Forum International, the medical publication of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) and later acted as the co-editor of this publication. In 2000 and 2001 he was director of the Beginner's Hands-on Workshop at the annual meeting of the ISHRS.
