Losing hair since early 20s (over +10 years) in the middle of my college years. I didn't think much of it at first since I was too busy worrying about graduating school and landing a job. Shortly after graduation, the job market was difficult, and most unemployed like myself stay up late and watch info-commercials, like hair transplant! Doing numerous research, the idea of strip procedure and cutting my scalp pretty much scared me from ever doing hair transplant. In addition, the FUE procedure was just being develop. Obviously at the time, not many surgeons can do this procedure and was probably very expensive back then. So over the course of several years, I'll spend every now and then on hair transplant on the internet, but never really taken it seriously.

Flash forward to summer of 2011. In one summer weekend afternoon, I was watching Transporter 3, starring Jason Statham. A bald guy with the buzz-cut looks very good on him. He's of the rare exception that do not need a hair transplant. I figure I probably might look good if I buzz-cut my hair. So the following day I buzz-cut it and as soon as I looked in the mirror, I immediately regret doing it. I've done a lot of crazy things in my life, and that was one of them. So the following day, I've decided to do some research about FUE procedure.

As a general rule, it's never wise to pick someone locally. But since I live in the Bay Area, I wanted to see if there might be a chance that a large population area can have at least one decent doctor that could help me. So I googled something like "FUE Bay Area" or "Fue San Francisco". And I found some guy name Dr John Diep. Naturally, you google his name, research everything about him, and looked through his website (mhtaclinic.com). He has great reviews, John Diep is board certified with the ISHRS & AHLC and worked under Dr William Rassman. Voted one of the best hair surgeon in 2010. One of the best and few FUE surgeons in California. And specializes in ethnic hairline.

One of the most amazing things that attracted me to his clinic was the hundreds of YouTube videos that he creates for all his patients. (http://www.youtube.com/user/jgdiep?feature=g-all)
There is no other hair doctors out there that would take the time to video his work, included before and after photos, and customer testimonials. He also explains his "7 rules for hairline".

I decided to immediately schedule a consultation with Dr Diep. Dr Diep is professional, caring, addresses your need, answer all your questions with honesty, and educate you on the procedure. He even drew where my appropriate hairline should be. I felt good leaving the consultation, but I also wanted to carefully think it over before making any decisions since I had my upcoming Hawaii trip to look forward to. So after sitting on the beach and chugging down Mai Tais for two weeks, I decided that I want this FUE procedure with Dr John Diep. But there was still the issue of finding time away from work for at least a week.

As many months went by, and doing hundreds of more hair transplant research, I was able to find the right date (late December) to do the procedure. So I scheduled a 2nd consultation with Dr Diep, and asked him even more questions than the first time. I felt comfortable with Dr Diep and went ahead to book my procedural date. We will attempt to do 2,000 FUE grafts to build my mature hairline and fill in the rest of the top.

Started noticing thinning in my early 20's and a weaker hairline as time has gone on. I decided around 26 years old to start looking into a hair transplant, but I was scared and embarrassed. As time has gone on I figured it is still my own hair and it is just moving from one area of the head to another. This website has been amazing for research and seeing patients results throughout the growing proces. I would probably have not found the right doctor or made the decision to get this done without the help of this website and its members. Thanks to all that share and contribute on here.

Hair Restoration Blog Baldframe

I probably thought I was going bald at 21 but I was delusional and had thick hair, just a high hairline. My hair thinning really started bothering me around 29. Writing this before surgery, I would kill for the hair I had even then. I think my hair reached what I would consider "every day bad" when I was 32. Every day bad is when every time you look in the mirror you hate your hair loss. Some guys can pull off the bald look and if I was one of them, I would happily accept going bald.
It has been mainly my front hairline thinning out. For years I have wore a Caesar cut because that was about my only styling option. I look like I could kill someone with my head shaved, so that's not the best look, especially because I am in sales where you don't want to look like a killer ;-)
I have a small balding spot on my crown but honestly it never bothered me because out of sight is out of mind. * I started using Rogaine 4 weeks after my transplant with Dr. Path.

I never took Propecia regularly until 32 due to financial reasons. If I could go back, I'd definitely take Propecia and Rogaine to keep my hair and find the cash!

I never dreamed I'd get a hair transplant. I always imagine "plugs" or just bad hair transplants that are 100% obvious. I think that's because that's all people see. They don't know when they see a good or normal transplant because they can look so natural now - for the right candidate. I decided to do this because, I think I'm a good candidate. I am not bald, just balding. It I was much balder, I might not have done this. I think 3,500 grafts will make a dramatic difference if it all goes right. If I could have my hairline from 5-6 years ago, I'd be happy. * After having had the surgery, if my results are good but in the future I need another surgery to shore everything up, I would do so based on my experience so far - THE DOCTOR YOU CHOOSE IS KEY! (yes I was shouting).

Balding has definitely affected my life. I use to be much more confident. There's nothing like looking in the mirror and being reminded every single day. At least women with small breasts can wear a padded / water bra - NO WAY am I ever going to wear a wig or "hair system" = way more obvious.

After a lot of research I found Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich in Bangkok. Since it's in Bangkok it cost at least 1/3rd less or perhaps even cheaper minimum and the accommodations were definitely cheaper than if I did it at home in the US or here in Oz where I live. I didn't chose Dr. Path for cost though...I could have afforded a more expensive Doctor. I chose him based on feedback and I figured now was also a good time because a) I have enough hair to cover most of the surgery area ) b) I work from home 3-4 days a week and can avoid some major face to face contact for a few weeks. It seemed in all the photos and journals the first 3 weeks is the worst in terms of the post surgery look.

It'll take 7-9 months to see the change and a 12-14 months for the total result but now I have something to look forward to.... that and losing some weight!

UPDATE: I am past the 10 month mark and 100% happy. Do I have a super thick head of hair? No. Does my hair look much, much better. Yes. I don't think anyone would look at me and think, "he's going bald." Now I just have a mature receding hairline appropriate for a man my age. Dr. Path was EXCELLENT with his scar work. Try and find the scar in my 10 month pictures where I have it cut short.

I started to recede at the temples in my early twenties, by the age of 27 my hair loss became more severe and at the age of 34 I panicked and rushed to the first company I found in a magazine without any research. Biggest mistake I ever made. You cant spend your life beating yourself over the head with a big stick every time you make a mistake, so when I came to terms with a less than acceptable transplant and still the problem of hair loss i started to research and came across spex, who helped me finally get things in order and helped me move forward.

Like most guys on here, hair loss took over my life for many years, confidence was gone and I lived under a hat due to how I felt about myself. I know a lot of people out there think it's vanity but it's not, well not for me. It was purely a confidence issue and I felt totally insecure in every part of my life because of it.

I do not want to bore you all with my life story - there isn't anything spectacular about it anyway and it will fetch a dozen yawns at best. But for the record, I always had a forehead that was broader and wider than normal - with a very high hairline. I noticed my hair thinning at the age of 21. I have a family history of baldness, so my hair loss didn't come as a surprise for me. However, what surprised me was the frenetic pace of my hair loss between ages 23 to 27 ( in my estimation I progressed from a Norwood 2 to 5 in those 3 years) I cringed everytime I looked at the mirror ( Whoa! bloody genes, whats the bloody hurry) . It depressed me immensely, to say the least. I did try my best to puff up my chest, take it in my stride and soldier on , but my baldness always clawed at me psychologically. And why the hell not - Here I was.. a Norwood 6 at 27 years of age.

And then one fine day, I decided that I'm not going to live like this for the rest of my life and with the support of my family, decided to take the plunge. It was then that I started researching extensively about HT on the Internet. I came across this wonderful website... this wonderful HT network ( The Brotherhood of Baldies ha ha ) . I owe a lot of my research to this network. I learnt what HTs are all about, discovered the difference between a good HT and a bad HT and was introduced to the wonderful panel of recommended physicians and their state of the art work.

Being a resident of India, Dr. Pathuri Madhu was an automatic choice for me. The fact that he was recommended among some of the world's best surgeons by this network was very reassuring for me. I researched his work, spoke to his fellow patients and realized that his work indeed is world class. So, in July 2011 - I took the plunge.

At the time of typing this profile, I'm not sure if my HT will go on to succeed or fail in the future. But atleast I am glad that I tried to do something about my baldness rather than crib, cry and regret about it all the time.

I first started noticing my hair loss in my mid-20s during visits to the barber. But it was only in my early 30s that I started noticing it in photographs. By my mid-30s, friends were commenting on it and joking about it. However, I guess I was still in denial about it, as when I looked at myself in the mirror- facefront, I couldn't really see it. However, whenever I caught a reflection of myself that showed the top or back of my head, I was pretty horrified to realise that that person was me. I tried the usual finesteride, minoxidil combination and that appeared to halt it somewhat, although I am not sure to what extent they actually worked.

By my early 40s, I guess I was a bit more concerned about ageing and the appearance of ageing and thought I shoud do something about my hair loss. I did a little bit of research and read really good things about the Farjo clinic literally on my doorstep in Manchester. I arranged a consultation, was happy with it and proceeded with a FUT procedure in early 2012.

I had a full head of hair well into my 20s. In my late 30s, I began to notice a receding hairline, and thinning in the crown area. I continued to experience significant hair loss into my 40s, even though minoxidil worked well on the crown area. So, I started doing some research. I first met Dr. Bernardino Arocha in the summer of 2010. He quoted me a reasonable price, based on my research of several other hair transplant surgeons, and indicated that I needed approximately 3000 graphs in the frontal area to get a look of fullness. At the time, I was a full-time law student, and needed to wait until I had adequate funding.

So, I returned to see Dr. Arocha about one year later. He not only remembered me, he kept all of his promises, and I was able to have the hair restoration surgery on 9-1-2011. His staff was excellent, attentive, and always polite. I have had a great experience with Dr. Arocha, and the only discomfort I experienced from the entire procedure was just during the first couple of days directly after the surgery, and that was only from my donor area.

I highly recommend Dr. Arocha. He is an artist, a man who keeps his word, and someone I completely trust. I am truly grateful to Dr. Arocha for his integrity, and mainly for just caring.

Thank you!

But after 9 months I quit using the Propecia, due to side affets(decrease of ejaculation and libido). After that time, I only used hair shampoos and Rogaine for Men(for one year only). During those; my hair loss again continues agressively and last year I had big baldness on top of my head and this make me to start the Propecia again in the last 8 months. Again my hairs get stronger with the medicine but lots of hairs cells died and a operation turns to a need for a nice look. 20/01/2012 I had the operation at Transmed(Dr. Melike Kulahcis' clinic), Istanbul by the Dr. Ilker Apaydin. Today is my 5th day after the op. And I will send my photos in periods to the site in time. (I postpone my surgical treatment 2 times due to several reasons indeed I had the op in Transmed, Istanbul)

Feel free to msg me if you have any queries on HT. I will do my utmost to answer your questions based on my experiences n researches.

I am born with a naturally high forehead, it's inside my dad GENE's~! So i believes it's genetics disorder, as all my MALE cousins are suffering the same fate as me. I lived with it for 27 years before i decided to go ahead with a "CHANGE"

My naturally high forehead have been giving me lots and lots of negative comments.. Comments such as "Your hair look like my dad's" "My hairless boyfriend" "You studied so much till you lost all your hair??". I remember once, at hospital while visiting my godpa, there was this uncle who was totally bald, he looked at me and told me "How old are you now? you will look like me in 2 years time.." I felt so insulted.. I am only 27 years old and a 60 years old uncle told me this.. Not only this incident, i got mocked at work by my colleagues, always make fun of my high forehead.. N since young i was being mocked @ for my high forehead..

I realised whenever people talk to me, the 1st place they will look at, will definately be my forehead... sigh.. Hair Loss make me lose my self-confidence N became very introvert.. N worst of all, when you have such high forehead people always look at you with ONE KIND OF pervertic look.. sighs.. ! I came up with a QUOTE.. Ugly people get ugly treatment, normal people get normal treatment and good people get good treatment.. Originated from me :( Things get so bad and i know i need to do something about it.. wearing a wig willn't help me to gain back my self-confidence, so i decided to take the plunge of HT.. Imaging people cutting up your head? Eeeeeks! But for the sake of a better future.. I'm IN..
