 My Hair Loss Story.

I've been losing hair since the age of 17, with a gradual and steadily receding hairline. At age 24, I got a small hair transplant for 500 Grafts to somewhat restore my hairline. Though the procedure was decent, 2 and 3 hair grafts were used to construct my hairline leaving it with a pluggy appearance. Serves me right for not doing my research fully and thoroughly.

Second time around, I did do my research thoroughly. I spent 8 months trolling the forums, looking at results and postings. I decided to go with Dr. Rahal and made an appointment many months in advance. At the time of creating this profile, I am 12 days into my second HT and like so many patients, time cannot go by quicker. I have a long and arduous journey ahead of me including the much dreaded 'ugly duckling' phase....... just hoping this ugly duckling turns into a swan and not an ugly duck.

Your comments and advice on my pictures would be appreciated.

How has my hair loss affected me?

17 and balding is no ones idea of a great way to kick of adulthood. Like so many others, it scarred me and marred my self confidence. I was constantly self conscious.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

Rogaine and Proscar have helped stop further loss. I'm hoping the HT will work best for me though.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

My experience was excellent; I couldnt have asked for a better procedure and care. All the posts you read about Dr. Rahal and his staff being top notch and attentive are true. As a person and as a caregiver, I give him and his team an A; even post op. Both Dr. Rahal and Adrian's turnaround time to my questions is excellent.

As for the results, time will tell. Day 12 is a bit premature to write about it.

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

Proscar (or propecia) and Rogaine

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

Hoping life has changed for the better... though things will get worse before they can.
