Level of

Bald Class 4

Surgical
Treatments:

3200 grafts at the Farjo clinic in Manchester March 2009.  What a wonderful example of how patients should be treated this clinic is.  From the first contact with Mick (hello) they have been nothing but professional, polite and unbelievably helpful.  They know how tough a decision it is to get a hair transplant and they make the whole experience very pleasant.  All the staff from the receptionist to the 2 Dr. Farjo's  have just the best patient care I have ever known.  Without their help it wouldn't have been half as nice an experience.  So thank you all at the Farjo clinic.
I have also been on Avodaart for about 6 months.

Non-Surgical
Treatments:

I was one of the unfortunate people who was conned by Advanced Hair Studios.  When I first decided to do something about my hairloss I saw the advert in the back of the newspaper and thought 'wow' they can cure me.  I went for the consultation and was told the laser treatment would work wonders for me at only £1500.  To get my hair back for £1500 seemed worth it.  I signed the disclaimer to say if it doesn't work then tough but thought no more about it.  Looking back the alarm bells should have rung then.  After 6 months nothing happened so they suggested their 'Strand by strand' or 'non surgical skin graft'.  This sounded good I thought.  After the salesman explained that they replace your hair a single hair at a time I was hooked - hair at last.  What it turned out to be as many of you all know is a wig that is glued to your head.  I somehow managed to wear one for 7 years as I couldn't face the thought of people seeing me balding.  This is how this firm make their money as they know that once you have the wig there is no going back.  It took me 7 years to pluck up the courage to get rid of it.  My kids are now 2 and 5 and it was a case of now or never and I didn't want them to be the kids with the dad with a syrup.
I had the wig taken off 7 weeks before my surgery and what a releif.  It was one of the most nerve racking times of my life seeing friends and family with no hair.  I was lucky though in that I still had a hairline and coverage all over.  Toppik came to my rescue and to be honest no one really noticed, they just thought I had had a haircut.  Toppik really did save my life.

 My Hair Loss Story.

I started losing my hair at about 25 (ten years ago).  At first I had the messy hair look to cover it up but this only works for so long.  What made it worse was that my dad still had a full head of hair.  I decided that I wasn't one of those people who wasn't going to be bothered about going bald - I most certainly was.

How has my hair loss affected me?

It made me lose confidence.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

Too early to tell.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

Too early to tell.

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

There is only 1 - a hair transplant.

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

Too early to tell.

 My general advice and suggestions.

Don't ever go for a wig.  You will spend your whole life looking in the mirror to make sure it's not too obvious. The wig brochure says 'restore your confidence' - you are having a laugh.
