Baldness:

Bald Class 5a

Surgical
Treatments:

One session with Dr.Lawrence Shapiro, about 3200 grafts; had a second procedure done on  May 13/09 same Doctor and about 4000 grafts, plan on posting pictures by the end of the year of each month to show progress.

Non-Surgical
Treatments:

I tried honey (part of a home remedy) and eventually rogaine for about 3 months before my session, and rogaine and propecia as directed after the surgery for about 6 to 9 months after my surgery. Currently on propecia, probably will be on this for the next 12 months but do not plan on being on it forever.

 My Hair Loss Story.

I think my hair started thinning out about 10 years ago, when I was 26, at first I didn't pay much attention to it since I thought it was just stress, but soon my wife started suggesting home remedies and I started to really pay close attention to the amount of hair I was leaving behind on my pillow and shower. Eventually one of my coworkers made a comment about my hair loss and put his hand directly on the back of my head and at that moment I decided to do something about it.

How has my hair loss affected me?

My self steem was low and I found myself losing my temper more easily.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

My hair transplant with Dr Lawrence Shapiro hands down has worked the best.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

Yes I am and soon I plan on going for a second one for added thickness.

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

I personally feel that transplantation is the only sure thing out there and by far the most economical considering that other treatments require applying or swallowing some type of medication for the rest of your life.

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

My self steem has improved and it's nice knowing that I don't have to be bold.

 My general advice and suggestions.

Do the research, if needed go to more than one consultation; if possible ask to speak with a patient and maybe even watch the procedure in person and don't be mislead by posts badmouthing doctors, instead if possible look at the pictures posted by patients sharing their experiences with the doctor of their choosing.
