Surgical Treatments: |
After much research (mostly using this forum) I decided to have a hair transplant with Dr. Rahal and his team. Initially, with my hair kept short, I wanted to thicken right through to the crown with around 3500 grafts. Preparing for surgery and obviously a donor scar, I decided to grow my hair to a length needed to conceal a scar - to my surprise, my mid scalp and crown area's looked very thick at a longer length. I therefore decided to go with 2000 grafts concentrated on the hairline as recommended by Dr. Rahal. I underwent surgery on 4th September and I have to say that Dr. Rahal, Adrian and the team were first class both pre op and post op. The surgery was quick, painless and relatively comfortable and the post operative care was very attentive and understanding. I'd highly recommend those considering a hair transplant to give Dr.Rahal serious consideration. So far at 3 weeks, i'm healing well with just a little shockloss underneath the scar which is concerning me a little. Having read many of the posts, I understand that it 'gets worse before it's get better' so the next couple of weeks will be difficult as I return to work. I've only informed my immediate family and don't really want to have to tell anyone else if I can help it. Anyway lets see how it works out. Patience, patience !!

Minoxidil, generic propecia, Propecia for around 7 months. |

| My Hair Loss Story. |
At around 22 years of age, I started to notice recession of my hairline. This has continued over a period years to the extent where it's started to reflect in my confidence levels. I've been using rogaine foam and propecia for around 7-8 months and i think both have helped to thicken my existing hair. Been using Nanogen for 9 months and i've found the product to be excellent especially with longer hair.

| How has my hair loss affected me? |
Slowly started to affect my confidence
|
| What hair loss treatments have worked best for me? |
Minoxidil, Propecia have definately maintained what I have and thickened the hair up a little. I've found Nanogen to be an excellent product. In recent months i've kept my hair at it's longest for some years and Nanogen works very well with longer hair styles
|
| Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results? |
Very happy with the Rahal institute. Every e-mail I sent prior to the op was replied to in a very thorough and considerate manner. Also I never felt that I was trying to being 'sold' something - the team and Adrian in particular operate in a very relaxed yet thorough fashion - something which I believe feeds through to the patient so that they in turn feel very comfortable and happy in their decision.
|
| What hair loss treatments would I recommend? |
Minoxidil, Propecia and Nanogen / Toppik

| How has hair restoration surgery changed my life? |

|
| My general advice and suggestions. |
Read up in detail before considering a hair transplant, I read posts and topics on this site for around 6 months before deciding to go ahead and have a hair transplant.
