 My Hair Loss Story.

hi guys, i am a mid 30s asian male. Been battling hair loss since early 20s but it has been a slow and progressive loss. Started on minoxidil 5% a decade back but nvr tried propecia or proscar due to potential side effects.

I began using toppik, nanogen and later dermatch to hide hair loss reasonably well until the last couple yrs whereby  hair loss was more rapid and even after the concealers, under close scrutiny and harsh lights, the hair loss was quite obvious.

Affected by hair loss everyday, every single hour every single minute. I know that unless i am not a suitable candidate, i will go for it.

How has my hair loss affected me?

As i mentioned earlier, it basically consumed me. There isnt a day i wake up not thinking about it. Every time i go washroom, i will be rudely reminded. Not to mention that i cannot go swimming or take part in sea activities with friends, and i will always feel uneasy under harsh lights and avoid windy places like the beach as it will mess up my concealers making it damn obvious. I would not go out without concealers and even when i got out of the apartment to get something from the car, i would try to sneak in and out like i am doing something disgraceful. Basically, hair loss has changed me into someone i am not.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

Began minoxidil 5% a decade back but i cant say whether it worked. I still dropped hair progressively but hey, maybe without it, i could ve been worse

Did not try proscar or propecia, fearing the side effects

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

I am post op 1 month and so far so good. No shock loss at this moment ( i got my frontal shaved so even if there is, i would not ve known, no shock loss from donor as well )

Scar is healing rapidly and i have been applying Vit E oil diligently every night.

Scabs are not falling as rapidly as i hoped though.

Things look to be ok but i will find out in a year's time!

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

for my case, only HT gives me hope

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

If it is successful, it would be one of the best things that can happen to me

Of cos that can only happen as i view hair loss as one of the worst things that can happen to me! :)

 My general advice and suggestions.

To those sitting on the fence, my advice is do ur research well and take your time. Dun let your emotions get the better of u. Easier said than done but i have come across quite a few forum members who had really bad results and scars which affected them in the biggest way u can imagine. HT is an operation and every op carries a certain risk. If hair loss is not bothering u much, i would strongly suggest to keep to concealers or even better shave. However, if u are seriously bothered by hair loss like me, do not hesitate anymore ( and that means u have done your research well ) and embrace the chance to regain yourself :)
