Name:

Sean

Age:

31

Level of
Baldness:

Bald Class 3v

Surgical
Treatments:

FUE Surgery to be performed by Dr. Rahal.  At this time, 3000 grafts to frame the face, temple work, density up front.  May need more depending on in-person consult.

*UPDATE* MAY 6, 2011:  Met Dr. Rahal for in-person consult at the Rockafeller Center area in NYC.  He saw how close to the skin my fade was and understood why I chose FUE.  He drew a line, it was somewhat mid-conservative and estimated around 3000 grafts.  However, I want a lower hairline a little more aggressive to be satisfied, so I think all 3000 grafts will be used or maybe even a little more. This lower hairline etc. was my initial approach to hair restoration from my Online Consult before the in-person one.  Surgery day is coming at the end of August.  Will be a two day procedure.  Check back for updates.

Sean had surgery performed by H. Rahal, MD

NSI AdvanC 1000mg (2 capsules per day)
NSI Green Tea Extract 500mg (1 capsule per day)
NSI Lutein 20mg (1 softgel per day)
NSI MSM 1000mg (1 capsule per day)
NSI Omega 3 With EPA & DHA 2.126grams (2 softgels per day)
NSI Probiotic 15-35 (2 capsules per day)

As of January 10, 2011:

Proscar (finasteride) 5MG cut into quarters for estimated 1.25mg dose per day

As of January 27, 2011:

NSI Wild Blueberry Extract 1,000mg (2 capsules per day)

Update 8/25/2011:  I have stopped using everything except Proscar 2 months before my procedure.  I am only taking Proscar at the moment.  I will probably continue my nutritional supplements 1-2 months after my procedure and start using Rogaine Foam for the first time as an additional hair loss treatment.

Update 9/20/2011:  Started using Rogaine Foam once it was confirmed by the clinic it was safe to do so.

 My Hair Loss Story.

Hair loss has had a great impact.  Started thinning 1st year of college and as years progressed it kept getting harder and harder for me to style my hair.  After many comments, I came to the realization that I am balding and that I need to do something.  8 or so years later, I am now at the point that hair transplant would be the only route to take.  Researched on the hair loss forums night and day.  Debated between strip or fue.  I keep my sides faded and short, so strip caused a great concern for me due to the scar.  Consulted many doctors with different opinions and prices.  I then found out, Dr. Rahal does FUE, so I decided to book surgery with him.  So, I am hoping my surgery in the future turns out great.

How has my hair loss affected me?

Greatly impacted me.  Self Esteem, Anxiety, etc.  Made me less social.  Less willing to do something.  Dependent on caps and toppik.  A bad hair day could cause a disruption of plans.  The list can keep going.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

So far, I have just used supplements and shampoos.  I am starting finasteride soon around January 2011.  Hopefully, finasteride used in conjunction with supplements and shampoos should help preserve hairs.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

To be continued...

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

Finasteride / Rogaine / Supplements / Healthy Diets / More Sleep

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

To be continued...

 My general advice and suggestions.

I just couldn't deal with it anymore, so I am deciding to have my surgery at age 29.

Quit waiting and do something about your situation.

The more you wait the more time you lose the many years you waste thinking about hair loss the more stress you cause the more hairs you lose the more you miss out on on the good things in life.
