 My Hair Loss Story.

I am pushing 50 and my hair loss has been gradual over the past 15 years. About 8 years ago a coworker MD friend prescribed finesteride and I also started using rogaine. I lasted maybe 3 months and quit because of the sexual side effects of the finesteride and the constant greasy look caused by using the rogaine. I may have seen some improvement in crown thickening following the use of those medications but the results were minimal. I still had reasonable coverage so I decided I would just grow old gracefully.

Within the past 5 years I unknowingly developed hypothyroism and likely it contributed to about a further 40% hairloss occipitally and on the crown. The thinning pattern is so bizarre it has really effected my self esteem.

I started synthroid in March 2012 and now 6 months later my thinking has cleared dramatically. I realize I dont have to live out my post-50 years as a loner and there are plenty my age that still look quite good. In July 2012 I booked a trip to Manila for my 50th birthday in January with plans to spend it on Boracay but after finding this blog I have decided instead to return to BKK, have been twice before, and get the transplant by Dr. P at his clinic.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

None really. I thought once my thyroid was regulated I would see some hair regrowth but instead I noticed only a general improvement in hair strength and quality.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

 My general advice and suggestions.
