Surgical
Treatments:

I had my first hair transplant session on December 27, 2007 with Dr. Glenn Charles in Boca Raton, FL.  I received a total of 2,051 grafts, all of them in the frontal area and temples.
My second transplant was also done by Dr. Charles on 11/25/09 for a total of 2102 grafts.

Hair28 had surgery performed by Glenn Charles, D.O.

Non-Surgical
Treatments:

I've been taking Propecia for over 7 years.  I think it has allowed me to keep enough hair in the crown and back of my head (no new growth, just little or no further loss).  Dr. Charles said that my thick hair on the back and sides (donor sites) was ideal for my hair transplantation procedure.

 My Hair Loss Story.

I remember being in my final year in college at age 22 and already seeing a bunch of hairs on the shower's floor.  Although I knew hair loss ran in my family (mother's side), I still was in denial, since nobody on my father's side suffers from hair loss.  Little did I know that hair loss can come from either side.  Most of my hair loss started at the front and temple areas.  As I turned 30, my hair loss was becoming evident and it bothered me a great deal.  Although I could notice my receding hair line in the mirror, the biggest impact to my self esteem came from looking at close-up pictures, or even worse, from friends and family asking me the same stupid question: "are you losing your hair?".  Boy did I hate that question!

How has my hair loss affected me?

Low self esteem and embarrasment.  I hate to visit/see old friends or family members since I know they will be looking straight at my forehead.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

Propecia has slowed down my hair loss on the crown area, but has done very little to keep my strands on the front areas.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

I'm extremely happy with my decision.  I've been thinking about it for so long and I finally had the courage to leap forward.  It's been only 2 weeks since I had the surgery, but everything is 'textbook' so far.

After 6 months:  Still hoping for more density, but very happy with other aspects: scar healed very nicely, no pluggy look at all, no numbness or itching, and redness gone after 3.5 months.  Will have to wait a few more months to determine final outcome of HT procedure.

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

Go for the Surgery!  It's the only permanent way, and the new techniques available will certainly guarantee great results (as long as you choose the right surgeon.. don't pick the cheapest one; you could regret it later)

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

First procedure provided good coverage, but it was lacking density. I'm hoping to improve this issue with the 2nd HT.

 My general advice and suggestions.

Don't be afraid of hair transplantation.  There are plenty of 'before and after' pictures in this and many other websites that confirm how great and natural hair transplants look nowadays.  Like with any major decision, do a lot of research on the best doctors in your area (or in the country if you are willing to travel).  If you are sensitive like I was about other people finding out that I had the procedure, schedule a vacation right after surgery (especially if you cannot wear a hat at work).  After 7 to 10 days nobody will notice that you had a procedure.
