 My Hair Loss Story.

I began losing hair at the age of 21. My hair loss pattern is almost identical to that of my father and his father. My hair loss progression has been gradual over the last 27 years and I’m now a Norwood 4a.

How has my hair loss affected me?

My hair loss has primarily affected my confidence with women - mostly in my 20's. From the age of 21 until I got married in 1993 (at 33), I remained somewhat shy and self-conscious with the ladies.

I’ve been married for the last 15 years, but I still want to look the best I can. I have always been very athletic and currrently lift weights 5 days a week and get in cardio work 6 days a week.

My wife is very lovely and seems to care less about my hair line.

My hair loss dampens  (but does not kill) my feeling of sexual desirability to other women. I am and will always be 100% monogamous. However, my ego...

Thank goodness for baseball caps, because I wear them a good bit of the time in the warmer months.

The biggest killer for me have been the hair loss jokes told at my expense. Although I take them better nowadays, such jokes used to really sting.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

I've had no luck with Rogaine on my receding hairline.

I think Propecia has slowed/stabilized my vertex thinning. I've been on it for 10+ years. No side effects for me.

Toppix gives me a little fuller look. I think I work well with this product. I only use it when I am out for long periods of time. Church, work, etc...

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

I am thrilled I met and am a patient of Dr. Bernstein's. I'll not know the full results for many months. Based on Dr. B.'s track record, I am certain that I will be very pleased.

Dr. Bernstein and his staff will put you completely at ease. The procedure was a breeze. They exercise the utmost care and devote their full attention to the patient for as long as s/he is there.

I've done a ton of research and BERNSTEIN Medical semed to be the best choice for me. I want a Doctor I can trust. I also want a realistic expectation. I want my procedure to be undetectable. I do not want an age inappropriate hairline. I just want a nice improvement. If a seond procedure is desired, then I'll cross that bridge later. I fully realize the benefit of taking a thoughtful approach with my donor hair.

His facility is top-notch. There are no sales reps. Dr. B. will tell you exactly what you can (and cannot) expect.

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

Propecia

Toppix when used appropriately helps a bit.

Hair transplant where warranted.

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

Too early to tell

 My general advice and suggestions.

Research, research, and more research. Find the best surgeon for you.

Bernstein Medical (BM) is not as active as many others on this site. However, Dr. B. has all the credentials you could possibly want in a surgeon. He is highly decorated, well-published, a true academic, and very ethical. I think he under-promises and over-delivers.

DO NOT not come here if you want an extremely low hairline.

DO come here if you want an age appropriate and undetectable new hairline. I've met former patients at an open house. They look incredibly natural.
