I did my research, using this site as a major source of information, and narrowed down my list of surgeons to three: Rassman, Reed, and Siporin. They all had a lot to offer, and had similar although varying ideas of what to do with me. I ended up choosing Dr. Reed in La Jolla based on the work that I've seen from him, the fact that he does extremely ultra-refined work, the hairline and plan he designed for me and for his very genuine compassion, kindness and overall being. The man clearly loves what he does and clearly wants to help others. Because of my age and current hair loss, we opted for a relatively conservative hairline and graft count of 2,700; 2000 of those went to creating a new hairline and reinforcing the temple areas and filling in the mid-section, and the rest went to adding some coverage to the crown. It's likely, if not certain, that another surgery will be desired and needed in the future to add more density but for now there's no rush to do so and it can wait a few years.

Propecia and Rogaine. Dermatch is a pretty damn good cover-up too.

 My Hair Loss Story.

I believe I started losing my hair sometime around the age of 18. It might have been even earlier, because I already had people making the, "hey you look like you're balding" comments while I was still in high school. Not cool. It was not pleasant being one out of like 3 guys who already had a clearly receding hairline his senior year of high school. When I began college I underwent a lot of stress and had some emotional problems, so I'm fairly certain that all that stress aggravated the situation and I quickly lost A LOT of hair between the ages of 19-21. It began to literally shed like crazy, and by the time I was 23 I was easily a norwood 3, and heading for a four in no time.It completely devastated me, and robbed me of my self-esteem. I used to be able to talk to and charm women like no other, but I started to feel way too self-conscious about myself and started to avoid social situations. I just felt deformed for being so young and so bald. I hit bottom as far as feeling bad about myself and decided to do something about it around a year or so ago. I had a few consultations and started both propecia and rogaine. I highly recommend to anyone who is showing signs of balding to get on both immediately. Don't be ashamed or shy about it. It took me like 2 years to finally come out of denial and stop feeling bad about myself and finally HELP myself. Those were 2 years I wasted and could have used to save more hair. I just had the surgery yesterday morning, and I feel great about doing it. I have pictures taken today, one day post-op, but am too loaded on pills to upload them so I will do that soon and will update new pictures frequently.

How has my hair loss affected me?

It ruined my self-esteem, and I began to avoid social situations.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

Propecia and Rogaine don't seem to have added much hair but they've certainly slowed down the hair loss considerably, plus they have also made my hair a lot darker and maybe even kind of thicker.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

I just had it yesterday, but so far so good. I have very little redness or scabbing, and no bleeding at all.

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

Start rogaine and propecia right away, and be patient. See what, if anything, it can do for you before deciding to get a transplant.

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

Even though I just had it, I already feel so much better. I know it's just a matter of time before it grows and I'm excited.

 My general advice and suggestions.

Take the meds and be patient. Don't base decisions on emotions or impulse. Be logical and rational. And especially do your research!
