 3 weeks post-op (with concealer)
Posted :3/10/2009

Today I returned to work properly, exactly three weeks after my hair transplant. As yesterday's photos showed, the donor area/scar line is still clearly visible. However, I have managed to conceal it reasonably well using nanogen fibres. The pictures taken below show the fibres shortly after I had applied the locking spray, so they are perhaps more obvious that they would have been 15 minutes later. For those wondering whether a return to work within 3 weeks of a hair transplant is realistic, I hope these photos assist. (It is worth noting that my surgeon shaved down the recipient area, so I considered that an overall buzz down was necessary to even out the look. Without the buzz, I might have contemplated a return to work sooner.) I will say that I saw numerous friends and colleagues today (as well as lecturing to a large group of students) and, despite the fact that I was hyper-vigilant for any reaction, no one said a word. There was no "eye drift". My honest assessment is as follows: (a) the donor area IS still visible, but (b) the concealers disguise it successfully, and (c) I notice it because I know it is there - and if I didn't know it was there, and was not otherwise looking for it, I probably wouldn't notice it. So, in conclusion, I'm pretty sure I got away with it. I think that I am now over the worst of it; it's a good feeling.
