Removing Scabs After a Hair Transplant - 10/5/2010 1:08:14 AM

Question:
I got a hair transplant exactly 17 days ago but have now discovered that I should have been more aggressive with the hair when washing to help remove scabs. Till now I did not do this and gently patted the hair dry. All scabs were in place till today when I rubbed the scabs and removed about 90% of them. Now I'm worried because the scabs were kept intact for 17 days. Will this affect my hair transplant results?
Answer:
Have no fear! While many hair transplant physicians do recommend gently massaging the scabs off starting between 7 and 10 days, there are others who recommend allowing them to fall off naturally.
In my opinion, your follicular unit grafts should be just fine but it is always a good idea to discuss your concerns with your hair loss physician.
