Hair Transplants: How Long Do They Last and What Are the Potential Complications? - 5/19/2012 2:45:23 AM
| Tweet |
Question:
How long will I save my hair after I have a hair transplant? What are the possible complications from surgical hair restoration?
Answer:
I’m not sure what you mean by “how long”? Once transplanted from the donor site to the recipient site, your hair will continue to grow for a lifetime just as it did before. However, you may still experience further balding of your existing hair. For this reason, most hair restoration physicians highly recommend that their patients medically stabilize their hair loss with Rogaine (minoxidil) and/or Propecia (finasteride).
As with any surgery, possible complications/side effects are pain, swelling and risk of infection among others. If you are interested in learning more about hair transplant surgery, I recommend that you consult our interactive map and locate the prescreened quality hair restoration physicians nearest you.
