Dr. Vladimir Panine and his experienced staff perform high quality follicular unit hair transplant surgery with excellent results

Why Dr. Panine is recommended.

Dr. Vladimir Panine of Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic has specialized in surgical hair restoration and the medical treatment of hair loss since 1994 and is a board certified dermatologist.   He personally consults with each of his patients in depth to customize solutions to meet their specific needs and concerns.

Dr. Panine recently took over for Dr. Christopher Gencheff in the state of Wisconsin who recently retired.  Thus, Dr. Panine is also performing state of the art hair transplant surgery in the state of Wisconsin.

Dr. Panine and his experienced staff are passionate and committed to providing state of the art hair transplant solutions utilizing the latest tools and surgical techniques.  Dr. Panine provides surgical hair restoration as the primary part of his practice and has the staff and experience to perform over 3000 follicular unit grafts in a single session when appropriate for the patient.

Adaptability and flexibility are vital ingredients Dr. Panine includes to provide custom solutions to his patients.  Dr. Panine creates a combination of parallel (sagital) and perpendicular (coronal/lateral) incisions at an appropriate angle to mimic the patient’s natural direction of hair growth.  Dr. Panine typically densely packs up to 40 FU/cm2 when appropriate depending on the patient’s goals and area of baldness.  He believes it’s better to add additional density in a second procedure to protect the scalp’s vascularity and maximize hair growth yield from the first procedure.

Dr. Panine uses minimally invasive techniques to ensure minimal trauma to the scalp and maximum growth yield.  Dr. Panine harvests the donor strip using a single blade to minimize transection and uses the trichophytic closure technique exclusively to minimize the appearance of the scar.  By using a single running stitch with individual sutures in between, Dr. Panine feels he can minimize tension on the wound and create an optimal scar.  Dr. Panine’s experienced staff carefully trims all follicular units under microscopes and inserts them into tiny recipient incisions made by Dr. Panine.

Dr. Panine has also performed research and authored numerous publications as it relates to hair restoration.  He holds medical licenses in Illinois, Michigan, New York, California, and Russia.  Dr. Panine is multilingual speaking fluent English, French and Russian.

Dr. Panine is a member of the following organizations

  • International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS)
  • American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery  (ASHRS)
  • American Board of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery
  • American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery
  • American Society for Dermatological Surgery

Hair Transplant Results - 11 months post-op

This is a 30 year old male hair transplant patient with a class 3v pattern hair loss. We did 3,014 grafts. Over 2500 grafts went into to frontal 1/3 and 500 grafts to the crown. These are the results 11 month post-op. Patient has totally changed the style of his hair. The procedure has now allowed him to comb his hair straight back without the feeling of being uncomfortable.

Hair Transplant Results - 2686 Grafts - Norwood 6

Here is a good example to show what type of coverage a gentleman with a class 6 pattern hair loss who still had a persistent forelock can get with 2,686 grafts. This patient had a couple of options on how to approach his procedure. We could concentrate on the frontal with all his grafts for more density, but he wanted more coverage throughout his entire scalp. Therefore, Dr. Panine transplanted hair throughout all of the zones, which has given him a thinner look, but coverage across more area. As can be seen by his post-op pictures he now has a very natural hairline, thinning as it goes back to the crown for a natural appearance. His total graft count was 2,686. His donor area will support another session if he would like to get more density.

Hair Transplant Procedure - Dr. Panine - 2764 Grafts

This is a 28 year old male with thinning hair since the age of 22. He was on Propecia for 2 years prior to his hair transplant surgery. He felt the Propecia had been controlling his hair loss and decided that wanted to add more density through the top of his scalp. He received 2,764 grafts. His hair loss pattern was hard to classify on a Norwood chart since he was not really bald and was experiencing thinning from the hairline to the crown. He had grafts placed into his hairline, frontal area, mid area and crown. As can be seen by his 7 month post-op pictures his density is significantly better throughout his entire scalp, with more improvement yet to come.

Hair Transplant Results - 3590 Grafts - Dr. Panine

This is a 36 year old Norwood class 4 hair loss suffering male. He had a couple of concerns prior to hair restoration surgery and met with Dr. Panine multiple times prior to his surgery. He was initially interested in the follicular unit extraction (FUE) procedure because he likes to have his hair very short and was extremely worried about scarring, which can and does happen when a doctor gets to aggressive or a patient has multiple procedures taken from the donor area. Dr. Panine informed him that he does do FUE procedures, but due to the number of grafts he will be needing it was not the best way for him to go. Dr. Panine informed him that he would only remove a strip that he was confident would not leave him a noticeable scar. The patients other big concern was being able to comb his hair back with no signs that he had anything done. After multiple visits to us to go over what was going to be done, this patient finally gave us the thumbs up and said, "let's do it". We did 3,590 follicular units. Dr. Panine gave him a very conservative hairline, but were able to dense pack the grafts from the hairline to the crown. He already has seen a great improvement at the 7 month mark and will continue to see more improvement over the next 4-6 months. He said it was the best decision he ever made and could not be happier with his results.

Hair Transplant Video - Dr. Panine - 2670 Grafts

Here is a 30 year old gentleman with a class 4 pattern of hair loss. He received 2,670 grafts. The breakdown was 1,126 single hair grafts, 700 two hair grafts, and 844 three hair grafts for total of 5.058 hairs. These results are 10 months post-op.

Hair Restoration Results - Dr. Panine - 3011 Grafts

This hair transplant patient is 36 years old. He was looking to restore his hairline, add density to the frontal 1/3 and fill in some slight thinning hair he was experiencing in the crown. Since the patient was on Propecia for acouple of years and hair loss was stable, we felt comfortable addressing his crown. He received 3,011 grafts and here are his 9 month post-op pictures. He should still see more improvement over the next 4 months.

Hair Transplant Photos - Dr. Panine - 3616 Grafts

This hair transplant patient is a 45 year old gentleman that came into our office with two goals in mind; to reconstruct his receding temple areas and fill in his crown. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, Dr. Panine diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. After understanding the patient's concerns, Dr. Vladimir Panine discussed several options with him on how we could reconstruct his hairline and fill in his crown. Since the patient was 45, and he had responded well to Propecia over the last few years, they agreed on a slightly more aggressive approach with his hairline. Dr. Panine placed 3,616 grafts, which were a combination of 1, 2, and 3 hair follicular units. These are his results 11 months after surgery. He is extremely happy with his results.

Hair Transplant Video - Dr. Panine - 2979 Grafts

This hair restoration patient is 34 years old with class 4 pattern hair loss. He wanted to rebuild his hairline and also wanted to be able to comb his hair back. He received 2,979 grafts. These are his results one year post-op.

Hair Transplant Repair Case

This patient had two hair transplant procedures done back in the 80's that left him with very visible "hair plugs". Needless to say the results were terrible and this forced him to wear a hair piece for the last 20 years. Although the patient hated wearing a hair piece, he hated the thought of ever going thru another hair restoration procedure more. He feared that he did not have sufficient donor area left to get him the natural look he wanted. After coming to meet Dr. Panine he was convinced that Dr. Panine would be able to make a big enough difference for him that he would be able to get rid of his hair piece. With a patient like this Dr. Panine was really able to exhibit his artistic ability in creating a natural hairline with a patient that had old "hair plugs" in the past. During the first session the patient received 2,216 grafts. Due to previous scarring in the donor area, Dr. Panine undertook a cautious approach as he knew the patient was going to come back for an additional session. All the grafting was done to the frontal 1/3 of the scalp during the first procedure. The patient returned 2 years later for a follow up session. The second session placed 2,563 grafts. Of the 2,563 grafts, 1,132 were added to the front area and the remaining 1,431 went into the crown. During the second procedure Dr. Panine also removed some old plugs that were in the patient's right temple area. Here are the patient's results 8 months after the 2nd session.

This hair restoratoin patient had 3 previous surgeries completed by two other clinics in the Chicago area, with his last one being done 4 years ago. He was uncomfortable with his results. He was told by the two other physicians, prior to each of his procedures, that he would not need any additional surgeries and that he would have a good head of hair. He was disappointed after each procedure. We had originally met with him 2 years prior to him having his surgery and explained to him what he needed to have done to achieve his hair restoration goals. He was hesitant about having another procedure but after meeting with him 3 times to answer his questions he finally decided to go forward with another session. One of the things that we did stress to him before the procedure with Dr. Panine was that after his procedure he would be able to style his hair any way he desired without any detection of his old grafts. We indicated that he would have good density, but there would still be a possibility that he could thin out more over the years. These are his results after 2,893 grafts. About 60% of the grafts went into the frontal 1/3 of his scalp to detail the hairline and add density with the other 40% to the crown. These pictures are 8 months post-op and he still has more improvement to come.

Dr. Panine - 3334 Grafts - Hair Restoration

This 42 year old gentleman originally met with Dr. Panine 2 years ago and expressed his unhappiness with thinning hair in his crown. He indicated that his hair loss had just become noticeable over the last 2 years and that his thinning hair seemed to be accelerated over the last year. He had very fine, blonde hair with average density in his donor area. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, Dr. Panine diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. Dr. Panine recommended that he should consider taking Propecia to try and control further hair loss. He then proceeded to find out what his expectations were. The patient stated that the crown was his #1 priority, but the thinning of the front was starting to bother him too. Dr. Panine explained to him that he could address his thinning in the front area along with the crown, with the main emphasis being on the crown. After building up the crown, the remaining grafts would be used build up the frontal 1/3, without bring his hairline down; simply creating more density within the hairline he currently had. The patient received 3,334 grafts of which 1,875 went into his crown. The remaining 1,459 into the frontal 1/3. These results were taken 10 months after his surgery. As of today, the patient has been taking Propecia for the last 2 years and the Propecia has controlled further hair loss without any side effects.

Hair Transplant Procedure Patient - Dr. Panine

This patient is a 32 year old gentleman that came into Dr. Vladimir Panine's office with a goal in mind; to be able to comb his hair back. He had been wearing bangs for the last few years to hide his receding hairline. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, Dr. Panine diagnosed his condition as Androgenic Alopecia (male pattern hair loss), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause baldness. After understanding the patient's concerns, Dr. Panine discussed several options with him on how we could reconstruct his hairline. They decided to take a more conservative approach and leave some recession in the temples, which would give him a good look after the surgery, but also as he continues to age. Dr. Panine and his experienced staff placed 2,937 grafts, which were a combination of 1, 2, and 3 hair follicular units. These are his results 8 months after surgery. He will see more improvement over the next 6 months.

Hair Restoration Results - Dr. Panine - 3605 Grafts

This hair translant patient is a 32 year old gentleman that came into Dr. Panine's clinic concerned about his thinning hair. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, Dr. Panine diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. He had been prescribed Propecia two years prior to our meeting and was still taking the medication. The patient felt that his hair loss has been under control since starting the Propecia, but the medication had not reversed the damage that occurred prior to his taking it. Therefore, he wanted to correct the hair loss that had occurred prior to taking Propecia. He was uncomfortable with the thinning of his hairline along with the thinning within the crown area. After understanding the patient's concerns, Dr. Panine decided that he could address both areas of concern in one surgery. His plan was to build up the hairline and frontal 1/3 of the scalp with a majority of the grafts. The remaining grafts would be placed in the crown area to increase his density in that region. The graft breakdown for the surgery is as follows:

1,401 single hairs, which were all place in the hairline

1,674 2-hair grafts, which were placed in the frontal 1/3

530 3-hair grafts, which were placed in the crown area

A total of 3,605 grafts were placed during this patient's surgery. These are his results 10 months post-op.

Dr. Panine - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic / Crown 2,952 grafts

This 32 year old gentleman wanted to rebuild some density in his crown area, which was very thin. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. The patient’s goal was well suited to his needs and therefore I planned the surgery accordingly. A total of 2,952 grafts were used. The break down was as follows: 1,098 single hair grafts, 1,502 two hair grafts, and 352 three hair grafts. I used significantly more single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural look. More grafts were packed into the crown and less packed farther back into the mid-zone. These are his results 8 months post-op and he will continue to see more improvement over the next few months. As I suggested, he is now taking Propecia to control further hair loss. As you may have anticipated, the patient is extremely happy with his results.

Dr. Panine - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic - 2,375 Grafts / 10 Months Post-Op

This 33 year old gentleman came to me hopeful that I could rebuild his hairline and add more density to the frontal 1/3 of his scalp. He wanted to be able to comb his hair back but his thinning hair kept him from being comfortable doing so. As with every patient, I had to determine his medical history and understand the progression of his hair loss. I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss.

It is always important to understand the rate of a patient’s hair loss and also the pattern that their loss has followed as it allows me to educate the patient on the options available to them during surgery. In speaking with this patient about the levels of density that were achievable during surgery, I determined that he preferred a more natural result that would create more density and rebuild his hairline but was conservative enough to keep others from detecting that he had a procedure done. As with every surgery I perform, I planned the surgery according to the priorities of the patient; what would make the patient happy. I used a total of 2,375 grafts during this procedure. The break down was as follows: 1,321 single hair grafts and 1,054 two hair grafts. You’ll note that I didn’t use any three hair grafts. Although the patient wanted more density, it was evident after educating him about all of his options that a good result for him would be a result that was extremely comfortable. To achieve this goal I had to give him a natural result that had enough density to ease his concerns regarding his thinning in the frontal region but didn’t create a new concern by focusing so much on density that I compromised the natural presentation that would make the patient comfortable. Concentrating on the patient’s goal I only used one and two hair grafts. I also used significantly more single hair follicular units as this allowed me to give the patient the fuller density that he desired but also created a very natural hairline that will keep anyone from noticing that he has had a hair transplant procedure. These are his results 10 months post-op and he will continue to see more improvement over the next several months. The patient is very happy with his results.

Dr. Panine - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic- Class 4 / 3,241 grafts

This 30 year old gentleman’s hair loss pattern was similar to a class 4 before his surgery. He came to me hopeful that I could rebuild his hairline and add more density to the frontal 1/2 of his scalp. His goal was to be able to comb his hair back without any signs of thinning in the hairline. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss (which is important, as you’ll see below), I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. The patient’s goal was well suited to his needs. That said, I understood his progression of hair loss and it allowed me to better anticipate where he would thin as he aged. In educating and discussing this with the patient, we were able to agree on an approach to the surgery that would reconstruct a hairline that would be suitable now, allowed the patient to attain his goals, and would also look good as the patient aged as it took into account where the patient would likely thin in the future.

A total of 3,241 grafts were used. The break down was as follows: 1,620 single hair grafts, 1,122 two-hair grafts and 499 three-hair grafts. I used significantly more single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to style his hair as he would like without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his results 10 months post-op and there will continue to be more improvement over the next few months. The patient is extremely happy with his results.

Dr. Panine - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic - 4,428 grafts

This 33 year old gentleman had a hair loss pattern similar to a class 5. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. The patient’s goal was to get as much coverage as possible while maintaining a natural hairline. I explained to him that he was going to need two sessions to reach his goal. However, after one procedure he would have a dramatic change; a natural hairline and good density into the frontal ? of his scalp. When reconstructing the hairline I kept in mind what would be suitable for him now as well as something that will look good as he gets older; a key part of making the hairline look natural.
A total of 4,428 grafts were used. The break down was as follows: 1,398 single hair grafts and 3,030 two hair grafts. I used significantly more single hair follicular units which also allowed me to create a very natural hairline; an action that will allow him to comb his hair back without anyone detecting that he has had anything done.
These are the results of this FIRST procedure 9 months post-op. There will continue to be more improvement over the next few months. The patient is extremely happy with the results of his initial procedure and is planning on having a second procedure completed sometime next year.

This 33 year old gentleman had a hair loss pattern similar to a class 4. He came to me with the hope of getting as much coverage as possible. His goal was to build up his hairline and add density to the frontal ? of the scalp. I explained to him that his expectations could not be met after one procedure. Rather, he will have a dramatic change after one procedure, but he still might want a 2nd procedure to add more density. I wanted to reconstruct a hairline that would be suitable for him now, but also something that will look good as he gets older. A total of 3,175 grafts were used. The break down was as follows: 1,209 single hair grafts and 1,966 two hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. By doing this it will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his results 9 months after his first procedure and there will continue to be more improvement over the next few months. The patient is extremely happy with his results.

This 26 year old gentleman had a hair loss pattern similar to a class 3 on the Hamilton Norwood hair loss scale. His goal was to rebuilding his hairline and temple recession. I explained to him that his goals could be met with one procedure. When planning the surgery I discussed with the patient the need to reconstruct a hairline that would be suitable for him now, but also considered how he would look as he gets older. A total of 2,527 grafts were used. The break down was as follows: 1,327 single hair grafts, 1,008 two hair grafts and 192 three hair grafts. As I was rebuilding a hairline I used significantly more single hair follicular units to ensure that the final result looked natural. These are his results 10 months after his procedure and there will continue to be more improvement over the next few months. The patient is extremely happy with his results.

Dr. Panine - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic - 3,981 grafts @ 10 Months Post-Op

This 34 year old gentleman had a hair loss pattern similar to a class 4v on the Hamilton Norwood hair loss scale. His goal was simple; rebuild his hairline and add density to the frontal 1/2. That said, he also wanted to be able to keep his hair short without anyone detecting that he had a procedure done.
I explained to him that he would have a dramatic result and his overall goals could be accomplished after one procedure. I also explained that if he wanted more density in the back ? he would need another procedure.

After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. During the discussion with the patient regarding his surgery I conveyed to him that my intent was to reconstruct a hairline that would be suitable for him now, but also something that will look good as he gets older. This is a critical issue which needs to be discussed when planning any work on the hairline.

A total of 3,981 grafts were used. The break down was as follows: 1,307 single hair grafts, 2,652 two hair grafts and 22 three hair grafts.

I used significantly more single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. A natural hairline is essential in making a patient happy; it gives them confidence. When a patient has undergone a surgery they need to feel comfortable combing their hair/styling their hair in front of others as well as undertaking water sports or swimming around other people. A natural hairline cements this feeling of comfort and allows patients to experience a more carefree lifestyle.

These are the patient’s results 10 months post-op. There will continue to be more improvement over the next few months. As I’m sure you’ve gathered, the patient is extremely happy with his results.

Vladimir V. Panine, MD - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic - 2,487 Grafts/1 Year Post-Op

This patient was a 42 years old man who had a procedure completed 2 years ago by another doctor. Unfortunately, he did not receive the density that he was expecting from that procedure. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. During our discussion I gathered that the patient’s goal was to add as much density as possible to the frontal 1/3 of his scalp. After examining his donor area I felt that I would be able to get enough grafts to make a considerable difference, but that he would not have the density that he had before his hair loss. I discussed this with the patient to ensure that he understood what was and was not possible. The patient elected to proceed with surgery to gain as much density as possible.

A total of 2,487 grafts were used. The break down was as follows: 1,033 single hair grafts and 1,454 two hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss.

This patient had two main goals that we focused on. First was to rebuild a conservative hairline that would be age appropriate now and as he ages. After discussing all of the options with the patient, he elected to go with a FUE procedure and I planned surgery according to his priorities.

A total of 3,042 grafts were used. The break down was as follows: 1,401 single hair grafts, 1,245 two hair grafts and 396 three hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural looking hairline. The patient is extremely happy with his result and is planning a second procedure to add more hair to the mid-scalp. I will update his album after his second procedure is completed.

Vladimir V. Panine, MD - Chicago HTC - Correction of "Plugs" - 2 Years Post-Op

This 68 year old gentleman had a several procedures completed in the 80’s which were completed utilizing “plugs”. He was unhappy with the look of the “plugs”. His goal was to have a much more natural look and also fill in the mid and crown area. I determined that the work would need to be done in 2 separate procedures. During the first procedure we concentrated on softening the hairline and filling in the frontal 1/3 of the scalp. In the second session we added more to the frontal hairline and concentrated on the mid and crown area of the scalp.

During his first procedure we placed 3,290 grafts. The break down was as follows: 1,845 single hair grafts, 1,445 two hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. On his 2nd procedure we placed 3,016 grafts off which 1,536 were single hairs, 1,218 were 2 hair grafts, and 262 3 hair grafts. These are his results 2 year post-op. The patient is extremely happy with his result.

Vladimir V. Panine, MD - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic-3,480 grafts 8 Months Post-Op

This 27 year old gentleman came to me with the goal of rebuilding his hairline and adding as much density and coverage as would be possible. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. I explained to him that we need to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss into consideration when creating a surgical plan. I indicated that it would be best to create a conservative hairline that will look good for him at 27 but also look good as he ages. As we discussed all of his options, I pointed out that with one procedure I would be able to add more coverage through the frontal 1/3 to ? of his scalp. If he wanted more coverage than that, he would need a 2nd procedure.

During the procedure, I was able to harvest 3,480 grafts. The break down was as follows: 1,425 single hair grafts, 1,906 two hair grafts and 149 3 hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his result 8 months post-op. The patient is extremely happy with his result and mentioned that he has received many positive comments about his appearance.

Vladimir V. Panine, MD - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic - 3,688 Grafts 1 Year Post-Op

This 25 year old was a class 3 going into a class 4. I explained that it would be best to create a conservative hairline that will look good for him at 25 and also look good as he ages. It was also pointed out that with one procedure I would be able to add more coverage through the frontal 1/3 to ? of his scalp. I also explained that there was a possibility that he could lose more of his own hair. If that was to happen, the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to bring it back to the way it looks now.

I was able to harvest 3,688 grafts. The break down was as follows: 1,419 single hair grafts, 2,068 two hair grafts and 201 3 hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his results 1 year post-op. The patient is extremely happy with his results.

Vladimir V. Panine, MD - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic - 2,164 grafts / 15 Months

This 37 year old was a class 2. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. This patient still had a lot of hair, but was uncomfortable with the present state of his hairline, which was starting to recede and thin in the frontal 1/3 of his scalp. He wanted to be proactive and augment the hairline to add some density just in case he continued to thin. I explained to him that we need to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss into consideration. Given those factors, it would be best to keep some temple recession so that he will look good at 37 and also look good as he ages. I explained that there was a possibility that he could lose more of his own hair. If that was to happen, the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to bring it back to the way it looks now.

He had a total of 2,164 grafts. The break down was as follows: 1,048 single hair, 998 two hair grafts and 118 three hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his results 15 months post-op. This patient is extremely happy with his results.

Vladimir V. Panine, MD - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic - 3,419 grafts @ 10 Months

This 31 year old was a class 4. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. This patient’s objective was to rebuild his hairline and add as much density as possible to the frontal ? of the scalp. I explained to him that we need to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible future hair loss into consideration when planning the surgery; it would be best to still keep some temple recession that will look good for him at 31 and will also look good as he ages. Additionally, I explained that there was a possibility that he could lose more of his own hair. If that was to happen, the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to bring it back to the way it looks now.

He had a total of 3,419 grafts. The break down was as follows: 1,452 single hair, 1,742 two hair grafts and 225 3 hair grafts. Vladimir V. Panine, MD - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic- Patient Results @ 1 Year

This 30 year old was a class 3v. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. This patient objective was to rebuild his hairline and add as much density as possible to the frontal ? of scalp while adding some density to the crown. I explained to him that we need to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss into consideration when planning the surgery. I indicated that it would be best to keep some temple recession so that it will look good for him at 30 and also look good for him as he ages. I agreed to do about 1,000 grafts to the frontal area of the crown, but did not want to get too aggressive due to the fact he could lose more hair. I also explained that there was a possibility that he could still lose more of his own hair in the future. If this was to happen the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to bring it back to the way it looks now. He is presently on Propecia, to hopefully help stabilize further hair loss. If Propecia stabilizes his hair loss I agreed to do another procedure to his crown in a few years.

He had a total of 4,387 grafts. The break down was as follows: 2,147 single hair, 2,084 two hair grafts and 156 three hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his results 1 year post-op. The patient is extremely happy with his results.

Vladimir V. Panine, MD - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic - FUE Hair Transplant - 1,749

This 58 year old gentleman was a class 4v, but really heading towards a class 5. He had a very small hair transplant procedure that consisted of a few hundred grafts over 25 years ago. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss.

This patient’s objective was simple; he did not want to have a large procedure but he wanted to achieve a very conservative hairline and look younger. That said, he also wanted a FUE procedure. As an executive in a business environment, he felt that his hair loss was starting to impact other’s perceptions of him and he was in an industry where perceptions were important. His hair was making him appear older than he actually was. His feelings were understandable and his goal achievable. That said, I explained that there was a possibility that he could lose more of his own hair. If this was to happen the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to build it back up.

To plan the surgery we need to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss into consideration. We agreed that it would be best to keep some temple recession so that his result would look good for him now, at 58, but also look good as he continues to age. We had planned to utilize 1,500 FUE grafts, arranging them into the frontal 1/3 but we actually ended up doing over 1,700 grafts.

We transplanted a total of 1,749 grafts. The break down was as follows: 793 single hair, 689 two hair grafts and 267 three hair grafts. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units on his part side/right side. The hair on this side needs to work hard and will shingle over the middle and left side of the scalp. This action will allow him to comb/style his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done.

These are his results 10 months after his procedure. I think his results go a long way in showing the hair loss community that you can get great results with a small number of grafts when the procedure is done correctly. Remember that his goal was to look younger; this goal was definitely achieved. I understand that when he tilts his head all the way back, he looks very thin in the crown, but people do not walk around holding that position. You have to keep in mind that this was an FUE case, yet the yield this patient achieved was as good as if it had been a FUT procedure. Needless to say, the patient is extremely happy with his results and is considering another procedure to add some density.

Male | Caucasion | Class: 2 | 1749 Grafts FUE | Transplant

Vladimir V. Panine, MD - Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic-2 FUE Procedures 4,171 grafts

This gentleman had diffused thinning from his hairline to his crown, and was heading towards a class 5. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. His goal was to reconstruct his hairline, add density from the hairline to the crown and wanted to be able to keep his donor area very short.

I needed to take in to consideration his age of 37, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss. We both agreed that it would be best to still keep some temple recession so it looks appropriate for him today but also looks good as he continues to age. I advised him that it would be best for his situation to have a FUE procedure since his goal was to be able to keep the back very short That said, I also advised him that it would have to be done over 2 procedures. I also explained that there was a possibility that he could lose more of his own hair. If this was to happen, the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would possibly need another procedure to replace what he lost.

During his 1st procedure we transplanted 2,092 FUE/ grafts. The breakdown was 1,063 single hair grafts, 906 double hair grafts and 123 triple hair grafts. All of the grafts in his 1st procedure were concentrated into the frontal 1/3 of his scalp. His 2nd procedure was completed one year later and we addressed the mid and crown area. We transplanted 2,079 FUE/grafts with his 2nd procedure. The breakdown was 968 single hair grafts, 897 double hair grafts and 214 3 hair grafts. The patient is extremely happy with his results and can style his hair exactly the way he wants to.

Vladimir V. Panine, MD- Chicago Hair Transplant Clinic- 3,553 grafts 8 Months Post-Op

This 29 year old gentleman was a class 4v. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. His goal was to achieve a natural looking hairline with as much coverage as possible into the frontal 1/2 of his scalp. We need to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss into consideration when designing his hair line and the surgical plan. I indicated to him that it would be best to still keep some temple recession as that design will look good for him at age 29 and also look good as he continues to age. I explained to him that with his degree of hair loss, one procedure would not make his hair look as dense as before he started losing his hair, but that I could give him enough coverage to take 10 years off of his appearance. I also explained that if he wanted more density after his first procedure, his donor area would support another procedure. A second procedure would allow us to add more density into the frontal area or into his crown. I also explained to him that there was a possibility that he could lose more of his own hair. If this was to happen the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to bring it back to the way it looks now.

He had a total of 3,553 grafts. The break down was as follows: 1,289 single hair, 1,584 two hair grafts and 680 three hair grafts. These are his results 8 months post-op and he will continue to get more improvement over the next 4-7 months. He is extremely happy with his results.

This 24 year old gentleman was a class 3v. I explained that the procedure would give him enough density in the front half of his scalp so that when he combed his hair, it would not appear as though his hair was thinning. As we planned the surgery, we needed to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss into consideration. Each surgery needs to address the main concerns of a patient so no two plans are the same. We agreed that it would be best to still keep some temple recession so that it will look good for him at 24 but it would still look good as he ages. I also explained that if he wanted more density, after his first procedure, that his donor area would support another procedure. This would allow him to add more density into the frontal area or into his crown. I also explained to him that there was a possibility that he could lose more of his own hair. If this was to happen the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to bring it back to the way it looks now.

He had a total of 3,577 grafts. The break down was as follows: 1,658 single hair, 1,569 two hair grafts and 350 three hair grafts. These are his results 10 months post-op and it will continue to improve over the next 2-5 months. The patient is on Finasteride and is extremely happy with his results.

This 43 year old gentleman was a class 5v. He had a previous surgery, performed by another doctor over 10 years ago. That procedure was a strip procedure. He elected to do a FUE procedure this time. After establishing his medical history and understanding the progression of his hair loss, I diagnosed his condition as Androgenetic Alopecia (male pattern baldness), ruling out any other possible dermatological or medical conditions which can cause hair loss. His goal was to achieve a natural looking hairline with as much coverage as possible into the frontal 1/3 of his scalp. I explained that with his degree of hair loss that it would never look as full as before he lost his hair, but he will have enough coverage to change his appearance from the front.

We needed to take his age, present degree of hair loss and possible further hair loss into consideration when planning the surgery. We agreed that it would be best to keep some temple recession, so that he will look good at 43 but also look good as he continues to age. I also explained that if he wanted more density after his first procedure, his donor area would support another procedure in order to continue filling the area farther back. I also explained to him that there was a possibility that he could lose more of his own hair. If this was to happen, the transplanted hair would be able to stand alone and still look natural, but he would need another procedure to bring it back to the way it looks now.

He had a total of 2,978 grafts. The break down was as follows: 1,438 single hair, 1360 two hair grafts and 180 three hair grafts. These are his results 9 months post-op and his result will continue to improve over the next 3-6 months. The patient is on Finasteride and is extremely happy with his results.

Below is a transcript of the hair transplant video for your reference.

"It's difficult to single out a single story because there are quite a few of them. But one particular story stands out in my mind. I had a young patient who had premature hair loss and he came up to our clinic. We extensively interviewed him and advised him of all the options of non-surgical and surgical treatment. He elected to undergo a procedure at our clinic. And in the process of undergoing the procedure, healing and final result, he was traveling out of town to see his mother who was elderly and living out of town.
