My Hair Loss Story

Life was bad for 15 years. Wearing hats day and night and never going anywhere that required no hat. Lost lots of valuable time and experience due to my problem and suffered terrible self esteem issues.

For about 3 to 4 weeks after my hair transplant, I felt great! Hair regrowth was there and visible for the first time in years. After 4 weeks I began to lose all the transplanted hair as well as other hair in the area. Also had some folliculitis set in and it is pretty painful. This pretty much sucks right now.

How has my hair loss affected me?

This question should be "How has my hair loss not affected me?" It totally took over my life and made me make horrible decisions and pass up great opportunities. Since the age of 21 it has been the deciding factor in my everyday life that has just about ruined me.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

When rogaine first became available over the counter I started using the Xtra Strength version. It was oily and nasty and made my scalp itch but I tried it for a year. Seemed to help a little in keeping hair but I absolutely hated putting it on and feeling it running down my scalp. So I gave up on it at around 30. I tried Propecia with little results and used it for a while until I read that it causes some severe cases of cancer in some patients and then I stopped using it. Later found out that that may not have been true but who knows.

Then Rogaine Foam came out and I have began using that again. It is a much better alternative to the old rogaine and is more like mouse. I use it daily for the last 3 months. Results: we'll see about in the future.

After my hair transplant, I started using Propecia again. It's only been a short while so the results will follow later. After talking with Matt Zupan and Dr Ron Shapiro I felt that it was safe and that I could use it without worry.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

My hair transplant was on 8-1-07 in Minneapolis with Dr Ron Shapiro. He told me that my donor area was great and density was great and he thought we would get great results. For some reason during surgery the numbness kept wearing off fast and I had to keep getting more shots to numb the area but hey it was worth it.

After the surgery was complete someone came in and said a Bridge had collapsed nearby. We watched the news and saw the devastating tragedy of the bridge collapsing. That was truly a bad thing and put things in perspective.

By the time I reached the hotel I had absolutely no numbness left in my head and could feel every nick and cut. Vicodin took away the edge though and I survived. The next 3 days I only had 3 hours sleep due to the fear of messing up the transplant.

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

Depends on your current loss. If it is just starting out then by al means GO TO THE STORE TODAY and buy Rogaine Foam. Do not wait. This is easy to put on and will most definately save some of your hair. I would also say if you are really worried then add Propecia or the generic version. The combo will help stop hairloss and may even regrow your hair.

If you have the money, if you can get the money and your hairlosss is controlling you. Then please call Dr Ron Shapiro today and get a hair transplant. I waited 2 extra years hoping for some new breathrough. It is not going to happen soon though. I went through 2 extar years of hell crossing my fingers.

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

It is still too early to tell. But when I got home and saw my kids and wife I felt like crying. I felt reborn, I felt like a new man. I have at least a year to go to know the exact results of my hair transplant surgery, but I haven't had so much hope in a very long time. My friends, if it bothers you bad enough then money does not matter. It is only money and you cant take it with you.

Personally I would rather have a full head of hair and feel confident and happy than to have an extra $20,000 in my bank account.

My general advice and suggestions.

Dont wait. The sooner you jump on the wagon and do something, the faster your results will come. Dont suffer any longer. These methods work and in some cases provide miracles.
