My Hair Loss Story
I have been losing hair for about 5 years - on Propecia for about 4. It took me some time to decide whether or not I should get on the pill so I lost a good amount of hair in between.
Losing hair on the crown was a little easier to deal with but once it started going away in the front, it became harder to deal with. I spent most my time in college with a hat on and not going out much. I was already a bit shy and non-social so with this additional issue, my self-esteem dropped even more.
I visited many doctors and most all had said a HT could be done but would have to be conservative since we did not know the actual pattern I was headed down. I decided to hold off and just deal with it. As the years went on, my self-esteem remained low and I continued wearing a hat. Recently, it started to affect work. I was so focused on modeling my hair in a way that wouldn't look so bad that I would get to work late quite often. At this point, I was up to my neck with dealing with my hair - it was time to move on.
I went back to Dr. Feller and he was very supportive. We decided to remain conservative and focus on the front with about 2500 grafts. Near the end, I got a little close to 3000.
How has my hair loss affected me?
Lower self-esteem. Less social activities - and those I did go to, always had a hat on.
What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?
Propecia worked well. Rogaine is okay.
Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?
Got it Aug 27. So far so good. Hopefully I can be patient :)
What hair loss treatments would I recommend?
Started Rogaine right away and do your research on the Propecia (but don't wait too long :)
How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?
Just a matter of time....
My general advice and suggestions.
Do the research - do not rush into anything.
