Daniel - AKA - Daniel H.Age: 50 | Bald Class: Email Me I had my surgery done November 13, 2006 at Dr. Glenn Charles office in Boca Raton. (Charles Medical Group). I was scheduled to have 1200 grafts placed along the hairline, and to fill in the temple area. I ended up getting 1353 grafts!! Yipee!! Dr. Charles explained that the technicians always end up with more grafts than scheduled, and, instead of throwing them away (which I've heard some places do, believe it or not), they use ALL the grafts, at no extra charge. It's two days after the surgery now, and I'm a little sore in the back of the head where the sutures are, and in the forehead area, of course (thank GOD for Vicodin).
My Hair Loss StoryI had always been about a Norwood scale 2 or 2a. Only slight recession in temples and forehead over a period of 14 to 15 years. I have a big forehead, however, so the receding effect, to me, was exaggerated.
How has my hair loss affected me?
I was becoming more and more self-concious as I got older, because I could see that the hair loss was getting worse. When I was 22 or 23, it was no big deal, because my hairline had not matured fully yet, and the hair loss at the temples and forehead were not noticeable. Now, at 37, I can definitely see the difference with the combination of a maturing hairline and noticeable loss at the forehead area and temples. Hair replacement surgery has always been a dream for me, but I've been putting it off because of fear of the pain, and because I thought it was beyond me financially. I was wrong on both counts!
Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?
I am very happy with my experience at Dr. Charles office. He, and his staff, are extremely friendly and professional. I was at ease the moment I sat down with Dr. Charles, and I was impressed that he took the better part of an hour to explain the procedure to me, address my fears, and even showed me the tools that he would be using. Based on my experiences going for consultations at other Hair Replacement clinics, I have to say that Dr. Glenn Charles is one of a kind.
