Non-Surgical Treatments:

My Hair Loss Story

I have been losing my hair since 18 years old. I have been using minoxidil pretty consistently since then. I have also used propecia in the early days which worked well but I stopped (stupidly) due to expense. The minoxidil really slowed down the hairloss process but in the past 2 years it doesn't seem to work any more.  My younger brother also began to lose hair in the same manner at a similar age but did the smart thing and had his hairline restored surgically (4 years ago) and uses propecia fanatically. He has a great, incredibly thick head of hair and I want the same.  After observing him as a guinea-pig I decided to undertake the same. I'll need 2 procedures covering a large area of scalp and therefore i'm trying to limit my expectations for density. I've been doing loads of scalp laxity exercises (getting very sore shoulders) and they seem to be working great. Just 2 weeks until I take the 24 hr trip from brisbane to Ottawa. Can't wait!!

How has my hair loss affected me?

It makes me feel middle-aged, grumpy, and washed-up. I avoid mirrors but am a reasonably confident person (until I catch a glimpse of myself).

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

Propecia was pretty good but was a poor student when I needed it in the early days and had to stop.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

Crossing my fingers!
