My Hair Loss Story

I started thinning and losing my hair in my early 20’s but actually didn’t notice the full extent until much later.  I’ve been on propecia for about 6 years and thankfully my loss has slowed and my hair seems to have held up fairly well with the meds. Thankfully I stumbled upon this site about 14 months ago and have finally decided it was time to move forward with a transplant.

How has my hair loss affected me?

My hairloss has certainly made me very self conscious about my overall appearance.  Sometimes the loss doesn’t appear as harsh when looking into the mirror, but it’s obvious when looking from a side angle or when I see my hair in pictures……..wow!  Not pretty!!!!

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

My brother who is 2 years older and probably a Norwood 6, has never taken any medication to treat his hairloss.  Thankfully because I’ve been on Propecia for the last 6 years my hair has seemed to hold up fairly well and I know that I have more hair than my bro had at my age (34).  Matt at SMG has suggested Rogaine foam which I take twice daily.  I think it’s too early to give any reports on its performance, but hope it helps!

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

I'll let you know, I hope so, I'm really excited and extremely confident with Dr. Shapiro and the staff at SMG.

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

Propecia as early as possible.

How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?

I'll let you know after the HT.

My general advice and suggestions.

There’s so much information, honest advice and feedback on this website, I truly found it to be the most helpful in doing research on the various types of HT as well as the top Doc’s and clinics in the world.  I’m very happy that Pat and Falc have dedicated their time and effort into this site to give newbies like myself as much details and information as possible.
