My Hair Loss StoryI have been battling hair loss since the mid to late 80's after taking Accutane right when it first hit the market. Just like everyone else, I have seen every type of Doctor possible to determine reasoning/treatment for my worsening condition. I finally decided (along with the support of my awesome family) to have a hair transplant. Balding as a woman is not something that can be done gracefully or discreetly. I am now on a journey that I hope to benefit from in so many ways. Also, what is REALLY important to me is to educate women about this process and what their options are. I do not see many women on here and Dr. Cooley agreed with me that it is not the easiest thing to talk about. I want to "pay this forward" to women out there struggling just like me. I should also thank all the guys on this website and message boards. I have learned SO MUCH from you and you helped me make some important decisions. You also gave me a better understanding of how men handle these issues. We really are a group of people just trying to feel good about ourselves, right?! Nothing wrong with that :)
UPDATE 11-14-11: OK so the first HT (on 9-28-10) was almost a complete failure :( Scheduled for another on 12-22-11. Still greatly appreciate this forum and will be "jumping back in" after almost no activity on the site due to lack of HT results.
How has my hair loss affected me?
It has affected me in too many ways to list here!
Updated 11-14-11: Since the first HT procedure did not produce acceptable results, I can add major disappointment to the top of the list...
What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?
Well, nothing has worked WELL, 1st HT was not a success, so stay tuned.
Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?
NO I am NOT happy. My Dr. is not pleased with the results either.
What hair loss treatments would I recommend?
Anything and everything you can do, with Dr.'s supervision of course.
How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?
Not going to answer this one quite yet - maintaining positivity.
My general advice and suggestions.
