My Hair Loss Story
I started losing my hair when I was 27. It started to bother me so I got my first HT done when I turned 29 at Bosley in Beverly Hills. Dr. Mark V. Andrews did my procedure. I received about 800 grafts to my hair line. I also started Propecia at this time. My scar from the procedure healed well. My results were ok but I was not really satisfied. The Propecia helped slow my hair loss. I believe if I did not start as early as I did I would be pretty bald by now. My brother who is 2 years older than me is bald and my father as well. I am 34 now and decided to do everything in my power to make sure I don't go down the route my brother and father did. Even though the Propecia helped slow my hair loss, I feel that my crown and hair line is looking pretty bad especially on the left side. I decided to get another hair transplant (Hair we go again!) but this time with more grafts since I can afford it now. I did my research and I must say that the Hair Transplant Network helped me the most. I learned so much from everyone's posts and I also felt encouraged to try another hair transplant. Hope it works. I decided to have Dr. Scott Alexander out of Arizona do my 2nd hair transplant. I also decided to start using Rogaine and Nizoral shampoo.
How has my hair loss affected me?
It sucks. I dont want to be known as the balding or bald guy. Losing my hair has definitely made me more self conscious.
What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?
Proprecia to help stabilize, been using for 5 years.
Rogaine seems to be working, only been using for 6 months.
Nizoral, seems to be working, only been using for 6 months.
Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?
HT#1: The experience at Bosley was ok. I really did not see the Dr. for long he was always in and out for a few minutes other than the strip removal and punching the holes which took about an hour. The hair techs were great. The results are just ok because I only got 800 grafts. I don't have the density I was expecting.
HT#2: The experience was good. Dr. Alexander spent a lot of time on the strip removal and the punching of the holes. I felt I got my moneys worth with the service and attention to detail. I was also pleased with his techs as well.
What hair loss treatments would I recommend?
How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?
We will see in 6 months to a year.
My general advice and suggestions.
