Jeff - AKA - JCAge: 62 | Bald Class: Email Me One hair transplant, 3033 grafts, not sure of the # of hairs, Dr. Paul Shapiro
wore a taped on hairpiece for a few years, dumped it about 5 years ago and have just been "glueing" my hair back with gel lately.
My Hair Loss StoryMy hair loss started in my 30's I suppose. I looked alright I thought, just wanted to look better. Researched and came up with the Shapiro Clinic in Minneapolis. I liked what I had read about Dr. Ron but after calling the clinic and learning about his brother Paul, I liked what I heard and signed up for the hair restoration surgery with him. I was not disappointed. Dr. Paul was excellent, patient, caring, and explained everything to my satisfaction, and his team of 5 technicians were awesome. I had some trouble with the ring of shots around my head, could only make it through 2 of them, I was glad to know that Dr. Paul's background was in pain management before focusing on hair transplantation and he did something called "nerve blocking" on me, waited a while and then the multiple shots were painless. It has been a week since my surgery and I am feeling very good about everything. Scar area still hurts a bit and feels tight, but that should pass.
I will post more photos soon.
How has my hair loss affected me?
Not that terribly emotionally, though I think I look older than I feel. I don't like that.
What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?
Dr. Paul started me on Propecia. Hopefully that will fill in the crown a bit.
Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?
So far, so good.
What hair loss treatments would I recommend?
So far, this looks like the best treatment out there.
How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?
So far, just a pain in the upper neck. High hopes though.
My general advice and suggestions.
Go with a coalition surgeon. Ask lots of questions. Then relax and do it.
