Alex's - Profile page One-week-shy-of-6-months
I'm posting now only 2 weeks from my last posting because the past two weeks have shown a relatively dramatic change. I think it may partially be the way my hair is cut but regardless, I see a considerable difference. So do many of my friends and family. On 12/10, seven days from now, it will be 6 months since my hair transplant. I had my first "serious" haircut yesterday. I say "serious" because my hairdresser cut the hair over my entire head without regard to my transplanted hair. He purposely looked for the scar and couldn't find it. Also when I first walked into the shop he said he thought I was wearing a hairpiece again (from a distance). Not because it looked fake but because it looked like I had hair!!!
At any rate, I can finally say that if things ceased to progress I would now be satisfied with the way everything worked out. That said, I know I still have quite aways to go before I can see the complete results... at least another 3-6 months.Nevertheless, it's a pleasure to style my hair even though I don't yet have too many options with respect to how I comb it. I've found keeping my hair relatively short improves the appearance of fullness. Especially if the sides are somewhat shorter than the top. I think if I were to do it again, I would have had the front hairline brought forward ever so slightly. I may still opt to do that at a later time.
In conclusion, I really feel like I am no longer bald. I know I don't have a thick, full head of hair and I probably never will. However, I am sooooo much more comfortable than when I was wearing a hairpiece and I'm really quite happy that I made this decision. In an effort to be as objective as possible, I didn't want to endorse my physician (Dr. Dorin of True and Dorin) too early. However, it is now time to say I can recommend his work and their practice. The only caveat is that I do feel that I could have been better informed by True and Dorin of the limited density I would achieve. I think they could have been more open about that. I would encourage anyone who gets a transplant to insist that you see before and after pictures or better yet meet people who have comparable hair and outcomes that you should be able to expect.
