Crown-Royal's - Profile page 14-months-post-op
Hello guys and gals,
I apologize for being away for so long. I've been super busy the last few months and just got my camera back.
Well, I'm about 14 months post op from 3,500 crown grafts with Dr. Feller. Overall, I'm somewhat pleased. I definitely have more hair back there than I used to, but I thought there would be alot more coverage by this point. I know I can't expect any more growth, maybe some thickening.
Now when you look at the updated pics, you may think that everything looks great. However, I still have some big bare patches, especially around the cowlick area and on the other side of the crown when looking in the bathroom mirror in person at the crown. I still have to use a substantial amount of dermatch to cover in the bare spots in order to not look like I'm going bald back there. Without dermatch, I would be dissapointed.
I know it seems like I'm exaggerating and it may look fine, but I don't think the pics do it justice. You have to see in person with the dermatch washed out. I'm still taking proscar daily.
I guess I just expected more for the price I paid. I got the surgery about 14 months ago and I'm still feeling the financial affects of it.
I know I definitely want another procedure strictly in the crown. I truly hope the next procedure will get me to where I want to be. I guess I should've expected this since alot of people on this forum call the crown "the black hole". I just thought for the price and the amount of grafts (3,500), there would be more back there by this point and I wouldn't have to use as much dermatch.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Dr. Feller for my 2nd procedure, but I just wonder how many more grafts will get me to where I want to be and how much again it will cost.
I probably wouldn't have the money to even consider a 2nd crown procedure with Dr. Feller for another 3 or 4 years....but I definitely plan on getting in the chair again. Maybe in 3 or 4 years from now, technology will have advanced even more and there will be a more economic approach to my hair restoration goals.
I would love to hear all of your thoughts and opinions.....Dr. Feller and/or Spex...how many more grafts do you think I would need based on the pics to get more coverage back there? Again the pics seem great so it may be hard to judge. I may come in to Dr. Feller's office for a consultation in the future, so he can give me an estimate in person and to examine the results from the 1st procedure.
