It is week 5 after my hair transplant (plus a few days), and the growth has begun. It turns out that the black "dots" I mentioned last week were indeed little hairs. They are growing slowly but surely. I also feel more stubble when I rub my head.
I'm experiencing some new growth on the crown. This is probably due to the Finasteride. Last week, the hair around the edges felt soft. This week, I can actually see a very slight difference. My wife says there are a lot of little hairs sprouting.
The redness on top is still visible. I think it is taking longer than normal to fade. I'll be surprised if it is totally faded by month two. It is fading gradually, but it has been 5 weeks and it is still noticable. My scar is also still pretty red in the middle.
All in all, I am very satisfied at this point. I think the new growth is a little ahead of schedule, which is great. I've been taking vitamins, MSM, and, in addition to Rogaine and Finasteride, I've been using a foam called extina that the doctor gave me.
For the first three weeks or so after the surgery, I was focusing so much attention to my head that time was going by very slowly. It seems like my surgery was about 6 months ago. Between week three and four life started getting back to normal and now the weeks are flying by like they normally do.
