I’ve just returned to Chicago from a 6 hour trip to
Bloomington, Minnesota for my six month check up at SMG.  I’m very pleased with the results so
far and expect more growth and maturation to come in the months ahead.

Styles?  I mentioned in previous posts that I was growing my hair out
longer to try out new styles.  I
tried – didn’t work.  I just
couldn’t find a new style that worked and all of my students were outraged that
my “mohawk” was gone.  So I’ll go
with what works for now.  Dr. Paul
and Zup both agreed that an even shorter hair style would give an even more
effective illusion of density.
With the hair combed straight up at this length the eye tends to look
through it.

Scar Revision?  During the check up we discussed the future and agreed that
another surgery was not urgent.  I
have roughly 2-3K grafts left via strip.
My current dilemma is whether to get a scar revision done next
summer.  In order to get a
hypothetical 1K or 1.5K grafts in the future I’ll have to get the revision done
first – so at least a year before the next round if need be.  My scars are on the larger side but
they do not bother me.  The only
reason I’d get a scar revision done is to prepare me for another strip session
down the road.  I’ll be weighing
these options in the coming months.
Hmm.... what to do?

Temple Points?  We also discussed refining my temple points and Dr. Paul
thought that since I was rather young with a pretty aggressive pattern that it
would not be wise to use up grafts on them.  He mentioned that if my temples receded further back that I
could be left with islands of transplanted hairs needing to use up more finite
donor hair.  My bridge (behind the
frontal third) is currently maintained by finasteride but if the medication
stops working I’ll need to have donor available to address that area.

Current State!  Dr. Paul thought my hair and skin (scalp) are in the best
shape he’s ever seen.  Makes me
wonder how much the biotin, MSM, Omega-3’s, folic acid have to do with it –
impossible to really know.  But it’s
pretty obvious this past procedure has been a great success!  I’m excited to see where I’m at in another
6 months but it’s not terribly difficult to enjoy what I have now.

We also took pictures at the clinic and I’ll be posting them
as soon as I get ‘em.  Here are the
homemade ones.
