My Hair Loss Story
I had been thinning for over 10 yrs and instead of a cool looking crow's peak, I was developing an uneven, ugly gap in the middle of my forehead. I hated the way I looked in photos and in the mirror, and so one day I finally decided to do something about it. I did my research, and thanks to this site I was able to choose a local Dr. that did a great job. It has made a huge difference!
How has my hair loss affected me?
Well, most close to me would say I'm a bit vain to begin with, so losing my hair really pissed me off. I always took great pride in my hair as I was growing up, and then at about age 26 it just started slowly falling out! It's just a terrible feeling; a loss of control and self confidence. Also, when you earn your living making face-to-face sales, it is a huge issue!
What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?
I was living in Caracas, Venezuela when I noticed my hair starting to thin measurably. Pretty much everything is over-the-counter down there and so I bought some hair growth stimulation ointment that didn't do a damn thing. After that the thinning slowed a bit and I sort of just shelved the idea of being able to do anything about it. My last resort was shaving my head, but that definitely was not my look. The ONLY hair treatment that works is taking the donor grafts from the back of the head and redistributing them in the loss areas. Luckily, I found out about this, did my research, and finally did something about it!
Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?
I feel lucky because I know not everyone responds the same to a hair transplant. My results really beat my expectations by a large margin. I couldn't be happier about it! I love having a hairline again!
What hair loss treatments would I recommend?
Aside from Hair Transplant Surgery, I would recommend ProScar, the generic form of Propecia. It is much cheaper than Propecia and the only drawback is that you have to cut a 5mg pill into 4 pieces.
How has hair restoration surgery changed my life?
I have more self confidence. I look and feel younger. I spend less money on hats ;-)
My general advice and suggestions.
Only you know yourself well enough to know how much hair loss bothers you. If it bothers you a great deal, get off your arse and get the surgery done because you won't regret it. On the other hand, if it doesn't bother you much and you're not concerned about others' first impressions of you or your image, then don't do it!
