Non-Surgical Treatments:

On and off Propecial for 10 years  I regret not staying on it permanently but it doesn't do anything for the temples and hairline, so I would have ended up with surgery eventually anyway.

My Hair Loss Story

I've been thinning slowly for about twenty years.  When I was in my mid-20s I had some mild loss at the temples and my hairline receded somewhat, but my crown and top were still full.  I've never really been happy with my hair, especially the hairline, and now I am REALLY unhappy and it has gotten to the point where I can't take it anymore.  Time to take care of it once and for all!

How has my hair loss affected me?

I think it has always affected my confidence and self-image, and I have had trouble getting a hair style I liked, or that stayed in place, leading to an unkept appearance whenever it fell out of place (which usually happened about 5 minutes after combing it.)   As of late driving my convertible and seeing how thin I look when the wind blew my hair back has really driven the point home. I am very self conscious about it.

What hair loss treatments have worked best for me?

I don't think anything has really worked.  I hated minoxidyl for the scalp itch, and the fact it never seemed to do anything.  I don't know how effective propecia has been because I did not stay on it consistently, but looking back it probably did help and I should have stayed on it.

Am I happy with my hair transplant experience and the results?

I am very happy with the experience thus far; waiting on the results.

What hair loss treatments would I recommend?

If you get on Propecia, stay on it!

My general advice and suggestions.

I've seen some bad pictures and read some sad stories on here because of botched work.  It makes me sad to read comments like "Dr. X messed me up years ago and now I look horrible..." or "all my hair has grown in and I hate to say it, but I am disappointed."  BE CAREFUL when you pick a surgeon and if you feel anything casting doubt in your mind about someone, think about looking for someone else because you will be more than kicking yourself later if things don't work out.  After following all the stories and doing my research I have complete confidence in Doctor Hasson and his abilities and have come to believe he is the very finest in the world... kind of like the Tiger Woods or Roger Federer of the HT field, but winning even more consistently.
