Can a 2200 Graft Hair Transplant Procedure Be Done in One Day?

Hi, I went to see a hair transplant clinic in Houston and the hair restoration physician reviewed my balding scalp and said I have good donor hair density and good scalp elasticity. I need to know how much is it going to cost for 2200 grafts. Can this hair replacement procedure be done in one day? If so, what will be the size of the punch?

Firstly, please be sure to do your due diligent research on selecting a quality hair transplant surgeon before selecting one.  Feel free to use our hair restoration forum and search for the physician's last name to see what their patients have been saying and view real patient posted hair transplant photos. Depending on your donor scalp elasticity, density, selected hair transplant surgeon, and type of hair transplant surgery, a 2200 follicular unit graft session (and possibly more) can be performed in one hair replacement surgery.  However, since you asked about the "size of the punch", I assume you are talking about follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant surgery rather than follicular unit hair transplantation (FUT)? The size of the extraction tool will vary between hair transplant clinics, typically ranging from .6mm to over 1mm. Be sure to ask physicians you are considering the size of the punch and the risk of additional scarring. Be sure you know which hair transplant procedure you are looking to have done and research both so you understand the benefits and risks of both. Be sure to ask your selected surgeon about hair transplant cost as this also varies between hair restoration clinics.

The question IS whether or not 2200 grafts will meet your hair restoration goals.  Feel free to use our animated graft calculator to help determine how many follicular unit grafts you will need based on your current hair loss condition.

Keep in mind that hair loss is unpredictable and progressive.  In the event that you lose more hair, you will most likely need subsequent hair transplant procedures.  This is why using hair loss treatments such as FDA approved Propecia (finasteride) and Rogaine (minoxidil) is important to help maintain your existing hair.  They might even regrow hair.
