Can Follicular Unit Grafts Be Dislodged One Month after Hair Transplant Surgery?

7/28/2011 4:42:59 AM

Question:

Can scabs dislodge transplanted hair one month after hair transplant surgery?

Answer:

On average, the transplanted follicular unit grafts are firmly anchored in the scalp by 10 days after hair restoration surgery, give or take a day. One month after your hair transplant, there is no danger of your grafts becoming dislodged. However, you may begin to shed the transplanted follicles at this time and also experience shock loss of existing hair in both the donor and recipient sites.

Due to this increased hair loss, your hair may temporarily appear thinner that it did prior to your procedure. However, have no fear as these shed hairs will begin to regrow in three to four months.
