Cutting and Styling Hair After a Hair Transplant

7/18/2010 2:11:50 PM

Question:

How long must I wait before I can style and cut my hair post-hair transplant?

Answer:

While you should always check with your hair restoration physician for his or her specific recommendation, it is generally safe to begin using styling products 7 to 10 days after your hair transplant when the grafts are securely anchored.

For your first haircut you should wait until 7 to 10 days after your sutures or staples are removed. If you dye your hair, you may do so three weeks after your hair transplant.
