Do Hair Transplant Clinics Require Any Testing Before Surgery?

11/19/2008 1:15:45 PM

Question:

Do hair transplant clinics require any type of testing before I undergo surgery?

Answer:

Some hair restoration physicians do ask you to undergo a blood test for various diseases while others don't. I've interviewed a few hair transplant surgeons on this topic. In interviewing a few who request blood test results from their patients, their clinic will still perform hair replacement surgery even if the patient has a disease, but will take extra precautions. In interviewing clinics that don't, precautions are taken already as if the patient did have a disease.

Be sure to ask any clinic you are considering if they require a blood test, why, and what impact a positive test result will have on surgery.
