Do Large Chain Hair Restoration Clinics Perform Quality Hair Transplant Surgery?

Question: I had a hair transplant at a well-known hair restoration chain late Dec 2011 and am really concerned about the negative comments I am reading about this clinic. At almost 5 months, I see reasonable hair growth but not at the density or hair thickness I expected.  Do you suggest that having a procedure at a large chain hair restoration clinic is a mistake? Should I still be expecting more hair to "break the surface" until the 6th or 7th month or is this pretty much it? Answer: Everyone grows differently. At less than 5 months post-op, you’ve got a lot of growth and maturation to look forward to. You’re not yet halfway there. Without viewing photos of your procedure I can’t give an educated opinion on the work you’ve had done. We have very strict criteria for recommending hair transplant surgeons (Learn about our criteria for recommending physicians) but that’s not to say that our list is comprehensive. It is certainly possible to have a quality hair transplant from a large chain clinic. It’s really the luck of the draw when it comes to the doctor performing the procedure. I know it offers little consolation to say this but, your procedure is done. Try and be patient and do not evaluate your final results until the 12th month. Only then will you be able to know if you got the results you hoped for or if you may require another hair transplant. In the meantime, I encourage you to share your experience and your hair restoration journey on our Hair Restoration Forum and social network.
