Dr. Koray Erdogan Now Provides Long Follicular Unit Excision (formerly Follicular Unit Extraction) (FUE)

Dr. Koray Erdogan is well known for his advanced FUE (follicular unit excision (formerly known as follicular unit extraction)) procedure in Turkey.  Recenty, he started performing what's known as "Long Haired Follicular unit excision" or Long Haired FUE at his clinic. This procedure is much like typical follicular unit excision however, no shaving is required to the donor or recipient area.  This enables patients to appear normal looking immediately after surgery, just with more hair.

Dr. Erdogan uses special punches that he has patented to perform the extraction part of the Long Haired FUE procedure.  The incisions are created by Saphire Blades in order to prevent damage to the original hair roots and the placement of the grafts are performed using the KEEP (Koray Erdogan Embedding Placer) system.  This device is also patented by Dr. Erdogan.

Approximately 1000 grafts are harvested and implanted per day up to a maximum of 3000 grafts in 3 consecutive days.

The advantage of this procedure is obvious, patients look practically normal immediately after hair transplant surgery.  However, like typical follicular unit excision and strip hair transplant surgery, the implanted hairs typically shed between 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure.  In 3 to 5 months, the hair will begin to grow back and take up to a year or 18 months to mature.
