I'm at the 2 month mark after my hair transplant and transplanted hair graft are still in my scalp. They feel hard and prickly. Shouldn't they have fallen out by now? I'm anxious for the new hairs to grow and I think these stuck grafts are hindering new hair growth.
Though most transplanted hair typically sheds before the end of the first month after a hair restoration procedure, it's normal for some hair to hold on. While some of the grafts will continue to grow into healthy hair, others will detach from the hair follicle beneath the surface of the scalp but remain attached to the scalp. Disconnected hair won't grow, but will eventually be pushed out by new hair the healthy living follicle produces underneath in a few months. Transplanted hair growth will not be hindered by hairs disconnected from the follicle but still connected to your scalp.
In my opinion, I'm certain there's nothing to be concerned about. However, feel free to communicate your concerns to your hair replacement doctor to garner his/her professional input.
