Question:
I had a hair transplant 3 weeks ago and I am starting to lose my existing hair and also the hairs that were implanted and I'm scared. Is it normal to lose the hair that way?
Answer:
Don’t worry. What you are describing is perfectly normal.
Transplanted hair follicles almost always shed in the first few weeks after
hair restoration surgery. In addition, patients sometimes experience temporary
shock loss of existing native hairs in and around the hair transplant recipient
area.
This hair loss should be temporary and the shed hairs should begin to
regrow along with the newly transplanted hairs between three and four months
post-op.
