This hair transplant patient shares his hair loss and hair restoration experience with Dr. Rahal of Ontario, Canada, who is a member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians You can read this hair transplant patient's hair loss and hair transplant surgical experience below.  He has also been posted his experience on our hair restoration forum.  Be sure also to view his hair loss blog in order to view his posted hair transplant photos.

I had a hair transplant with Dr. Rahal three months ago and would like to share my experience. I apologize in advance for the lengthy post, but I want to share as much detail in as possible with other hair restoration forum members. (I have been travelling for the last three months - to explain the delay).

I’m 24; male and noticed my hair loss condition at the age of 16. I started using Rogaine (minoxodil) at 20, (got decent results to begin with, but the hair loss medication stopped responding after 24 months – I started using it way too late). I have been using Propecia for 15 months with no noticeable results.

I first approached Dr. Rahal after about 12 months of online research on the Hair Transplant Network and the Hair Loss Learning Center.

I emailed some of my hair loss pictures through the Hair Transplant Network website and within 24 hours I had a response. Dr Rahal suggested 3500 follicular unit grafts and he explained the realistic results I could aim for. I decided to go with Rahal because of his sterling results and the absence of negative reviews – but on top of this, I just felt comfortable with him, there was no ‘hard sell’ from Adrian, Dr. Rahal's hair transplant clinical representative.

I arrived at the hair restoration clinic on the morning of my hair transplant procedure, filled in a series of forms and had my consultation with Dr Rahal. He reiterated the likely results and we agreed on a hairline.

Soon after this I went into the hair restoration procedure room. This hair transplant clinic really had my best interests at heart; they were really helpful and made sure that I was relaxed and comfortable. It really couldn’t have been better. The little extras made the hair transplant procedure much more pleasant. I watched a few films and fell asleep a few times. Before I knew it, my hair transplant procedure was over.

Dr Rahal called me in the evening and made sure everything was cool – which it was.  I spent a few more days in Ottawa and after day 3 Dr Rahal gave me the go ahead to go. (I went to Montreal for 10 days).

On day 12 the donor area stiches were removed and I was ready to fly back to London.

After this I experienced the usual hair transplant postoperative discoloration (pinkness) on the recipient area (around the transplanted hairs) – but it settled down after about 4-6 weeks. I recommend a few weeks off work – more if you don’t want anyone to notice.

Would I recommend Rahal? Absolutely. I am pleased with the hair transplant megasession that I received.

I will be posting hair transplant pictures as soon as I can.
