Hair Transplant Failure? No Hair Growth After 11 Months

Question:

Me and my friend both had hair transplant surgery on February 28, 2008 (11 months ago). It was my third hair transplant surgery and his second with the same doctor on the same day. Neither of us sees any results whatsoever and we're both very concerned. How long does it take for the hair to grow after the second or third surgery? Was there anything wrong with the surgery?

Answer:

Transplanted hair regrowth typically starts between 3 to 5 months after hair restoration surgery and matures after about a year. If neither of you are seeing any new transplanted hair growth after 11 months, there's a possibility that the procedure failed for some currently unknown reason. It's important for you and your friend to consult with your hair restoration physicians and allow them to evaluate the percentage of hair growth yield. This will allow your surgeon to determine if the procedure was a success or failure and identify any potential problems.
