How Important is Hair Loss Medication After a Hair Transplant?

Question:

How important is it to take proven non-surgical hair loss treatments after having a hair transplant? Any thoughts would be great. Thanks!

Answer:

In my opinion, Propecia (finasteride) and Rogaine (minoxidil) should be strongly considered as part of a patient's long term hair restoration plan. Hair loss is progressive and surgical hair restoration does nothing to slow down or stop the progression of male pattern baldness.

I'm not suggesting everyone must take these hair loss medications. But they certainly help to minimize the risk of future baldness that's otherwise unknown and unpredictable. After all, hair restoration is a long term process and its goal is to get the best possible results while reducing short and long term risks.
