If I Stop Using Rogaine (Minoxidil) Will My Hair Transplant Fall Out?

Question: I was told once you start using minoxidil you have to continue using them forever. Is this true? Would the transplanted hair fall out one I stop using it over them? Answer: No, your transplanted hair will not become dependent on Rogaine (minoxidil). It’s harvested from the permanent donor supply and should continue to grow for a lifetime in the recipient area just as it did before it was harvested. However, if you experience hair growth in your existing, non-transplanted hair, you will need to continue using minoxidil forever in order to maintain those results. If you discontinue use, your hair loss will eventually catch up to where it would have been had you never used minoxidil. Again, this applies only to non-transplanted, natural hair. Under normal circumstances, your transplanted hair should continue to grow for life regardless. David (TakingThePlunge) Editorial Assistant and Forum Co-Moderator
