Is Donor Swelling Normal 7 Days After a Hair Transplant?

3/11/2009 12:20:10 PM

Question:

I'm 7 days out from hair transplant surgery and my donor area feels swollen. Is this normal? The sutures are to be removed tomorrow.

Answer:

Some donor area swelling can occur the first week after surgical hair restoration. But if it extends past this or gets worse, be sure to speak to your hair transplant doctor.

It's a bit surprising that your sutures are coming out at 8 days post op. Usually it's recommended to wait 10. As long as your hair loss doctor said to take them out at 8 days, there shoulld be no problem.
