Is it Normal to Have Red Bumps on Your Head after a Hair Transplant?

10/21/2010 4:58:05 AM

Question:

I received a hair transplant exactly 1 1/2 months ago. The area where the hairs were transplanted is red or pink in color. I would like to know if this is a normal thing that will pass?

Answer:

Yes, it's perfectly normal for the recipient area to be pinkish or red after hair transplant surgery. How long it stays that way varies from patient to patient but it may last for a few weeks to a few months.

Patients with minimal hair loss may be able to conceal this discoloration by growing their hair longer, provided their hair restoration physician does not require shaving the head.
