Is Propecia (Finasteride) Only Recommended for Hair Transplant Patients?

7/31/2014 2:35:40 AM

Question:

Please tell me if finasteride is only used by hair transplant patients or if anyone with hair loss can use it.

Answer:

Finasteride is not only for hair transplant patients. In fact, it’s not necessary to use the drug in order to maintain hair growth of the transplanted grafts.

Any male suffering from androgenic alopecia (genetic hair loss) should discuss Propecia (finasteride 1mg) with their physician. Propecia and Rogaine (minoxidil) are the only two clinically proven and FDA approved medical hair loss treatments.
