My Hair is Thinning Rapidly after My Hair Transplant

11/16/2010 2:25:44 AM

Question:

I had a hair transplant to the vertex area (1581 grafts) for a small balding spot. It seems to me that my frontal hair has experienced major thinning since the procedure (which was only 7 days ago). Is this shock loss? I am really getting nervous about this. Is this temporary and when will these hairs become more thick?

Answer:

It is not uncommon to experience shock loss after a hair transplant. In the majority of cases, this loss is temporary. However, hairs that are already weak from miniaturization may not grow back.

You should expect to see shocked hairs growing back between three and five months when your transplanted hairs begin to grow.
