My Scalp is Tight and Still Completely Numb 15 Weeks After my Hair Transplant - Is this Normal?

7/23/2009 4:14:30 PM

Question:

I am now 15 weeks post-op from a 2000 follicular unit graft hair transplant procedure. The area where the grafts have been placed is still completely numb. Is this unusual? If not, what length of time should I expect to wait before the numbness disappears?

Answer:

Scalp tightness and numbness can last several months or even up to a year after your hair transplant procedure. In most cases, normal sensation will return in time. In my opinion, if you don't notice improvement over time, discuss your concerns with your hair restoration surgeon.
