My Transplanted Hairs Did Not Shed after Hair Transplant Surgery

Question: I had a hair transplant done about 10 weeks ago and I was told that transplanted follicles will shed in 3 to 5 weeks. However, they have continued to grow and I still haven't lost any grafted hairs yet. What does it mean if they don't fall out? Also, when will shock loss start? Answer: Most men will experience some degree of temporary hair loss after hair transplant surgery due to shedding and shock loss. While it’s very common for the transplanted hairs to shed in the weeks following hair restoration surgery, a lucky few patients find that their hairs do not shed but continue to grow. This will not affect final hair growth and you should consider this a positive outcome. Shock loss can occur anywhere from a couple of days to several weeks after hair transplant surgery and can affect both the donor and recipient sites.
