My Transplanted Hairs Didn't Shed after Hair Transplant Surgery

3/4/2011 3:24:02 AM

Question:

It's been a month since my hair transplant and the follicles have not yet shed. Is this normal? I tried to remove the scabs after 14 days using my nails and some hairs came out but most of them are sill in place and seem to be growing.

Answer:

There is nothing to worry about. In the majority of cases, transplanted hairs will shed shortly after hair restoration surgery. However, in some instances patients find that many of the transplanted hairs do not shed but continue to grow.

Count yourself lucky and enjoy your new hair growth!

Important note: Readers should be aware that it is not advisable to remove scabs with your fingernails after hair transplant surgery. Scabs should be removed through gentle rubbing with the fingertips in a circular motion. Always follow your hair transplant surgeon's post-operative care instructions.
