Tuesday, December 12, 2006

This past weekend Dr. David Seager passed away after fighting to survive cancer. Although I did not know him well personally, his reputation as a truly innovative hair transplant pioneer is well known within the hair restoration world.

Propecia or Avodart, which inhibits the hair loss causing effects of DHT best?

Wednesday, September 14, 2005

Hereditary hair loss will affect about half of the American male population. Luckily, in the past few years there have been drug treatments developed that can slow down, completely stop, or even reverse hair loss in some men. While there is still no cure for hair loss, drugs such as Propecia or Avodart have given many men hope for holding on to the hair they have and maybe even regaining some of what they lost. When considering a medicinal regimen, many hair loss sufferers find themselves asking which medication is right for them. This article will help you understand how both Propecia and Advodart inhibit the development of DHT, which acts as the active ingrediant in male pattern baldness. The relative advantages and disadvantages of these hair loss treatments will also be compared, as well as their potential side effects.

Are bigger hair transplant sessions really better?

Tuesday, March 15, 2005

We have all seen the headline grabbing posts and eye popping photos for the huge single session hair transplants of 3,500 to 5,000 grafts. All things equal - who would not want to get faster and more dramatic hair transplant results sooner? Well, if all things were truly equal I would absolutely agree.

But like many things that sound almost too good to be true there is often a catch. While I believe that the creation of smaller and less invasive incisions that enable dense packing (when appropriate) are important advances, I am concerned about the potential dangers of huge hair transplant sessions that are being promoted agressively online.

One week tour of south Florida hair transplant clinics

Saturday, August 6, 2005

South Florida may just be the vanity capitol of the world, beyond even Southern California or Brazil. In South Florida people don't ask why a person had a cosmetic procedure but why they haven't.

So it is no surprise that South Florida has more hair restoration physicians per capita than any other place in North America. But only a minority of these hair restoration surgeons are providing truly state of the art results.

Patients share their stories and photos online

Friday, July 22, 2005

Nothing beats comparing notes and actual hair transplant results with real patients. On our discusion forum we have a section that enables patients to create their own patient photo albums.

Dozens of patients each month post their photos immediately after surgery, a few days later and often months later. This enables potential patients to really see what they can expect to look like the day of surgery, soon after and then months later when the newly transplanted hairs grow in.
